1974 BMW 2002tii: Barn-Find Resto Project

bmw2002tiibarnfind

The BMW 2002 is not an uncommon car around these parts, but every now and then a project gets advertised that seems to be worth taking on. This fuel-injected 1974 BMW 2002tii project is listed here on eBay and is said to be a barn-find example that is a matching numbers example with no holes in the metal. Those rear shock towers do look pretty solid, and while the rest of the body needs paint, it doesn’t appear to suffer from rust like so many of these cars do. Its Los Angeles location could indicate long-time dry storage, but it does look like a “needs everything” example. The seller mentions that reasonable offers within striking distance of the $7,000 Buy-it-Now will be considered, but a lower number would make it easier to justify the investment in this car versus spending a bit more for one that’s already road-ready. Which direction would you go?

Pretty solid looking. If it were a roundie it may be worth 6k but a square tail, unfortunately no.

Square, round, who cares? From the cockpit they drive and look the same. Either way, this car isn’t worth 7K.

Sorry to spoil everyones thoughts on the price. Here in Europe I see prices up to
    € 50,000.00 for a 1976 2002tii ( http://www.oldtimers-te-koop.be/oldtimer-autos/bmw-2002-tii-16v_222606.aspx ) or € 32,500.00 for a 1974 ( http://www.gaspedaal.nl/BMW/2002/?trfw=tii&srt=df ).
