$800 Car/Truck/Limo! 1975 Chevrolet El Camino Limo

100616-barn-finds-1975-chevrolet-el-camino-limo-1

Thanks to Emile W. for tracking down this cool/odd ride! This is a 1975 Chevrolet El Camino Limo and it’s here on craigslist with an asking price of $800! It’s in Sheridan, Indiana, about forty miles north of Indianapolis.

This car pretty much has it all, it’s a car, it’s a pickup, and it’s a limo – and, it’s only $800! Ok, so it’s pretty rough, I agree with you on that, but you can’t deny that there are a ton of parts available so you can restore this unique ride and.. well, I’m not sure what you would do with it but, come on, it’s cool! This baby is 24-feet long so make sure to take your big trailer with you when you go there to pick it up.

Look at how much chain link fencing that you’ll be able to haul all while still hauling a half-dozen of your friends to ladies night at the local microbrewery! Of course, you’ll be the designated driver every time you’re in this thing, but at least you’ll get all the free non-adult-beverages that you’d ever dreamed of, not to mention getting to chauffeur your friends around until all hours of the morning, and then cleaning up the rear seating area afterwards. Fun!

This car has a Chevy Laguna S3 front clip which is pretty cool, this thing really is about as custom as it gets. Unfortunately, there are zero interior photos which seems weird for a vehicle that’s 90% about the interior appointments. But plan on a lot of work in there. The 350 V8 and turbo 350 transmission are just sitting there looking pretty, they’re not hooked up. So, here’s your chance, you SBC gurus. How cool would this be with a modern drivetrain in it? Did I just say that out loud? Whew.  The floors and frame are in good shape, rust-wise, but there will be a little welding in the quarter panels. And, of course, the mystery interior will undoubtedly need a lot of work. How should this one be restored? Back to “stock”, if there is such a thing as a stock El Camino Limo, or with modern drivetrain and interior?

Pretty cool, but once again I hear “Too much time on my hands” playing in the background…

Keep it. Or just find an old “flower power” hippie who I’m sure will want just like kit is.

Hate to be a hater but Lets see, scraps at five dollars a hundred which I would guess this pos weighs about 5k equals about 250.00 – towing fee of 50 which gives you a net loss of 600.00 not very profitable. Can I get a thumbs down please, I can handle it. All that’s right somebody got there feelings hurt so that option isn’t available anymore. Sad.

it is pretty cool in spite of the fact that it has been trashed. wonder if a limo shop did this conversion? what a strange combo!
love to have seen it when newly converted, or would we just be looking at three cars?

Haters don’t know how much work and skill went into this build, but then they never do anything but post rude comments and critiques and are dispossessed of any imagination. That is if they ever had any.

I think this would be a desirable vehicle around here, cuzz nearly everybody drives a truck of some sort.

I think all those tiny house enthusiasts should take a break from trying to build a condo on top of their car trailers and realize that right there is a whole lotta real estate for 800 buckaroos. Just cut off the top, raise it up with a few sheets of plywood and you’d have yourself an El CaLimoCondo.

Already gone. I would LOVE this thing. The workmanship looks excellent and the lines all flow which is tricky to do with something like this. Hope it gets restored.

This thing is cool as hell!

    Somebody agrees, its gone already.

How does something that took so much painstaking custom work to build end up in this condition??

I think it’s a mid 70’s wagon with a El Camino bed grafted to the rear and the S3 nose added to the front. I like it.

The Laguna nose is cool, reminds me of the one I had in high school. As for the rest of it, put the wheels back on my F250 where they belong and crush the rest. If I tried to take my buddies out in this thing not only would I not be the designated driver, I wouldn’t be invited anymore.

The graft of the wagon to elCamino rear looks seamless. I would have loved to fix and drive it. The looks from people would be priceless.

Some times you do something so different that nobody will believe you that you are not smoking or drinking something really good. This looks like one of those times. The one I was involved with was making a pair of wrecked MG-TD’s into a single pick up truck. Where the bed was 100% beer cooler. Very different, Very kool and it is still around even though the man I was working with has passed a few years ago.

I wish who every built this finishes it up completely and proves again that all americans are crazy it is just a matter of degree.

The deal breaker is no A/C.

This would make for an incredible artificial reef at the local lake.

I like it. But I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for pretty much any El Camino .

I would give El Calimo two thumbs up if I could. Almost makes me want to own it just so I could say that word when people asked me what it was…

I’m with the respectable build camp. Clean lines. Doesn’t look cobbled. Needs some turbine or rally wheels.
