Fire Her Up! 1975 Triumph Spitfire

'75 Spitfire

This appears to be another stalled project. We don’t know if this was the present seller’s project or not? Listed here on craigslist in St.Louis, Missouri is a 1975 Triumph Spitfire priced at, drum roll please, $1,500. Yes folks, an entry level car with an entry level price.

'75 Spitfire right engine

What is great about this is that this car, according to the seller, is that the Triumph starts, runs and you can drive it. We don’t know what work has been done on this project other then the primer coat. The buyer, it appears will need to replace the headlights and other bits also.

'75 Spitfire rear

It appears the rear bumper may have been damaged? We are sorry for the “soft-focus” of some the images provided with the ad. We don’t know if the top or frame for it is with the car?

'75 Spitfire boot

You may need to pick up a spare wheel and tire and maybe patch a hole or two in the rear?

The buyer may wish to call the seller and find out if the door cards are included. There are more images with the ad for your review. This maybe the Barn Finds “buy of the day”, a Triumph that can be driven for $1,500? Is this Triumph worth it to you?

Motor-on,
Robert

Really liking the posts BF has made the past few days. Some really nicely priced and solid projects out there.

I have a blue 1975 Spitfire and love playing with it. Mine needs paint and the light rewired along with the brakes worked on but does stop but I would not trust it at speed but I drive it around the house and don to my dad’s about 2 miles. Great little car it is though it is up for the winter now.

Nice find! If you are interested in a similar car in the Southeast, a friend of mine is selling this one for the same price. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5378245736.html

    Hi Guys!

Please excuse my ignorance but what are “Door cards” ? I am 82 years old and never have seen this term before.
    Can someone please explain this?
    Thanks!

Just another term for interior door panels, or more precisely, the cardboard under the vinyl. I know it’s used in Britain commonly.

I now own this car! I bought her for $800.00.She is not currently ready to be driven as the seller originally stated. She needs new floor pans, the gas tank and sending unit needs to be replaced and she currently has no brakes due to a bad master cylinder. My husband and I will be showing her lots of love over the next few months/years.So excited to restore her to her former glory!
