Two Door Sedan: 1960 Ford Fairlane Club

1960 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan

As I’m sure all of you know by now, when it comes to my taste in cars, I walk to the beat of my own drum. Don’t get me wrong, I love many of the popular classics (think Mustangs), but I also have an appreciation for the less popular cars too. This 1960 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan isn’t something you see that often and while the styling isn’t the sportiest, it is definitely eye catching. The seller’s listing, which can be found here on craigslist, is a bit short on information but they claim it still has its original 292 V8 and three on the tree. At just $600, this seems like it could be a good buy for anyone looking for an interesting project on a tight budget! Just be sure to swing by Mayodan, North Carolina to inspect it. Would you save this two-door sedan? Special thanks to Diavolino K for this tip!

If it’s not too rusty underneath, sure, why not. The first brand new car my father ever bought was a 1960 Ford, 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, black color. Looked just like this car.

My favorite ’60 Ford is the Starliner, especially if it’s equipped w/ the 360 hp 352 Interceptor & 3 on the tree w/ o.d. My dad carpooled with a neighbor in the early 60s that had a black ’60 Starliner, I was too young at the time to know which motor it had, although I know it had a V-8 cause it had duals w/ glasspacks.

the price is almost too good, but with just 1 photo how could anyone know for sure. if it is all there then there might be more then the asking price in parts. i would like to know what the difference in price was, when new, between this and the base falcon. nice find.

Fairlane? Looks a lot more like a full-size Ford

The Fairlane and Fairlane 500 were still models of the full-sized Ford in 1960 and 1961. It wasn’t until 1962 that the Fairlane name was moved to the new intermediate Ford.

In 1960 the Fairlane was a full size Ford.

Too bad seller doesn’t provide any more pics. Too bad too that the thing is so far away. I live in Stockton, CA. Heck, if I were close, I’d go down to see the thing with $600 in my hand.

I’m with you Josh – I like the styling of this Ford. The seller needs more photographs though…… Nice find.

Not my choice of Fords but I have to admit that the style has grown on me. My neighbor had one with the FE engine and it went like Jack the Bear. Took a lot of punishment and still came back for more.

That roofline is unique. Imagine trying to find that rear glass! Might be a lost cause if it’s rotted, of course, but priced right.

It was one year before the bubble top GMs and I have never seen it on a Ford. It must be either the bottom of the line or top of the line non option that nobody wanted.

This would make a cool revenuer’s car replica. Especially since it’s in N. Carolina. I have a friend that has a ’59 done that way.

This is one of the things i like about BF Josh – that you DO march to the beat of such a drum so that we get a look at stuff like this obscure 60 Ford, something many of us might not actually seek out otherwise. Almost as oddball as the 58s, these 60s had worse rust issues than even the 57-58s did, so haven’t survived nearly as well (among other reasons). Fairly mundane example this one, but just finding one that’s not a rust pile is rare-ish these days so i hope someone finds love for this. “Would be the only one at your local show” as they say…

I have a friend in the Nebraska Panhandle who has one just like this in showroom condition. It has less than 1,000 miles on it and still has the plastic on the seats. Same black color, etc. It sits proudly in his collection of 1955 Fords and Model A’s. Gotta love the oddball cars.

I like the 61 much better. This could be made into a sleeper with the right drive train.

Josh, it’s a good drummer to March to. Not too many of us like the ’60, but I thought it looked great after the upright ’59. One of Ford’s smoothest designs from the ’60’s.
