10 Years Parked: 1984 Toyota Supra

This second generation Toyota Supra has been sitting for ten years following a fuel pump failure. The seller politely apologizes for not washing the car before taking pictures, and the distinct mud line on the tires indicates the Supra sat in some level of filth that was deeper than the bottom of the sidewall. Regardless, it’s listed for sale here on craigslist for the very reasonable sum of $1.

Thanks to Barn Finds reader Jim C. for the find. Personally, this is my favorite generation of the Supra, and there’s actually a very complete one in the Georgia collection that I hope to make a feature in the coming weeks. The chunky wheels, fender flares, and spoilers all add up to a classic 80s hot hatch that today is hard to find in fair, rust-free condition.

Toyota interiors of the 1980s were driver-focused cockpits, with thickly-bolstered sport seats and manual transmissions offered in generous quantities. Despite years of sitting somewhere in the woods of Wisconsin, the cabin doesn’t look like it’s allowed rodents or water to take up space there, at least not to the point that any significant damage was done.

This underbody shot reminds me of similar scenes beneath my junkyard rescue 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16, but it’s hard to tell which car has a more intact floor. The seller doesn’t like a real asking price, but these Supras haven’t gotten so rare that you want to spend a lot on a bad one – if at all. Mileage is fairly low at 108,000, but we’ll need to see those post-wash pictures to see just how far past saving it is.

I say throw the tarp back over it and let it sit for another 10 years.

What’s up with people on Craig’s List and their inability to completely remove the tarp? It always sits half way across the car or crumpled up in a huge pile.

No price, no wash, no sale lazy guy. As for this generation Supra? Make mine a first edition 82 White sunroof P-Type 5 speed with the black hatch and the red sport seats. Oh, this is an 85, not an 84, you can tell by the pattern on the seats plus the two tone design and rear wing. Those were changes for 85. Yes Sir.

Yep, description fit mine to a tee…loved the look 100%. This one will take a lot of love to get that floor right.

The ad states ” V-6 ” lol, Apparently he never looked under the hood much. I don’t think Toyota made a V-6 in 1985 / 1986. Nessy your right about the seat upholstery.

Seems worth saving depending on price point. I’ve bought worse.
