This 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a claimed low-mileage barn find, having been parked in the longtime owner’s garage until just recently. With 17,308 original miles, it’s practically new – but how does it look once pulled out of its rather dingy confines? Fortunately, the answer is pretty good. Check out that shine – this Monte Carlo cleaned up well. The brown on tan paint scheme isn’t one we often associate with Monte Carlos, which are more typically captured with black paint and red pinstriping. This is definitely the grandma church ride special, and that’s OK – that flavor of Monte Carlo is seen far less often in preserved form. Check out the old NY plates.
I also love the dealer sticker on the back right corner, still looking fresh despite rolling off the lot years ago. The interior provides strong evidence that the mileage is original, as vintage GM interiors don’t look this good by accident. Unmarked seat upholstery and carpets and an uncracked dash all combine to make this Monte Carlo feel like the low-mileage survivor it is.
Under hood looks quite fresh as well, and the seller notes that the Monte Carlo has several mechanical needs despite firing up with relative ease after its long slumber. The battery, brake lines, and tires are all in need of replacement, along with the requite fluid changes. With no reserve and bidding quite low at the moment, someone may walk away with a time-warp prize .

I had a 78 cutlas years ago which was a similar style of boxy body with the now rarely seen full bench seat.
My dash had a mini stress crack around center radio area at six years old. (Fairly certain the girlfriend back in the day riding by me in the last of these full seat cars assisted by always pushing her knees against it ) 🤔😏

Looks real good, and I had a few 1980s Monte’s in my day and loved driving them. Looks like a weird rust spot in the middle of the driver’s door.
There was one the same color in my small town that was owned by a principal.
Nice looking car but seeing where it was stored and examining the rust in the engine bay, down low, this car may not be for the faint of heart. With what looks like a dirt floor in that shed and the seller advising the brake lines blew out, I’d be definitely wanting a look underneath. Hate to find it needs a new frame. I’d venture a guess that removing anything on this car will need lots of penetrating oil or an acetylene torch. The pictures of the left engine block gives clues. Just imagine if this poor car was stored correctly…what a perfect gem it would be.
Design is clean and colors are great. I hope someone can put this car into good shape mechanically.
This is from the era when cars were loved AND taken care of by the seniors of the day. This is sure sharp and had I not recently finished restoring a 1984 with 10,427 miles I would jump on it. Congrats to whomever ends up with this one!
Durfee chevrolet is in Rochester NY…..Rochester NY used plenty of road salt…this car was must have been put up for most winters or there would be no body on car at all
