1928 Chevrolet Hot Rod Project

1928-chevrolet-hot-rod

Most hot rodders seem to prefer Ford Model A bodies, but here’s your chance to do something different. This project started life as a 1928 Chevrolet and it still needs to be finished, but that’s a good thing if you want to do things your own way. The best part is that you won’t feel bad if you decide to drop a 350 in it! Find it here on eBay where bidding is at $2,700 with about a day left. How would you finish it?

Stovebolt. Full race cam (Isky) and 3 2bbl carbs. Six in a row can and do go.

^ ^ THIS ^ ^ w/3-speed and exhaust dumping out under on the side. It would look SO dang cool. And like you said, it would likely go like stink. Keep it lightweight and simple but safe. Chopped windshield, rollbar, buckets, belts, and have fun.

Looks like a great pedal car. Two sets of pedals required.

Ohhhh I’d love to grab this. I’ve been collecting parts for a few years.

No room, or time if I’m honest with myself. It will probably get bid out of my comfort zone anyway.

…I’m not too impressed with the rolling chassis …. frame sucks in general, body does not fir, grill surround has been hacked and spread at the bottom… Good luck getting a grill to fit.

    Appears VERY amateur build …

Dream on with HiPo engine installations, that rear will come apart the first time you smoke the tires..

I’d pass, not much really THERE …….

    Greetings All,

Look at the rear of the frame, it’s been tweaked in a shunt of some type.

The add-on diff alloy does nothing and I agree with another poster that the frame will not take a crate motor unless it’s from Briggs and Stratton, come on, no X-member? That’s just asking for problems, and then the diff?

The seller says it’s a project. So, why the nasties from the critic’s department?

Give your head a good shake. It sold for under $4K. What do you expect for a real steel, 1928 Chevrolet Roadster at that price?

There is lots of dollar room left to repair and strengthen the frame. Then get a super cheap Blue Flame Six tied to a 5 speed. Stick a turbocharger on it. Or go up-market to a twin turbo 6 cylinder Toyota with a 6 speed tranny. Use high ratio gears in a tougher rear end.. Avoid overpriced, cliche hot rod parts to save LOTS of money. I’ll bet it could be done for under $20,000 all in; allowing $10,000 for outside work on the frame and body.

Don’t bother with chrome anything. Paint it with a brush. Dark blue with yellow disc wheels; maybe prepainted, from a Checker .

Disgusting you say: I thought you would.

Suitable for TROG? Impossible if you follow seller’s suggestion of a 350 cid Chevy. All TROG racers have to have period correct ’53 or earlier running gear.
Also—seller says available in Puerto Rico????
I live in PR and there’s no way I would think of buying this or advising anyone else to look at it, especially after he says it’s in pieces and he’s not responsible for shipping. Avoid this POS and this seller at all costs— he has delusions of adequacy——-

PS. It’s not even a Chevy—-look at the hood vents….Chevy never had this style.
