1950 Ford F1: Endless Possibilities

1950 Ford F1

From David F – A lot of folks have great memories of these old trucks and a lot more just think old trucks are cool. This 1951 Ford pickup definitely has the patina to be cool (except for the wheels and gas pedal!) at a price that makes it affordable for lots of people, $4950. It’s being sold by a “flipper” but they’re being pretty reasonable. The owner says he’s had it for almost 50 years and was saving it for his niece, so it’s set for 10 years. There’s no sign of rust in the pictures. The bench seat is beyond needing upholstery, but nothing foam and naugahyde won’t cure. The engine is all there and appears to have been converted to 12 Volt. So there are lots of possibilities, from doing a little repair and upholstery work and driving it as is to restoring it stock or custom. Remember, the one problem with owning a pickup is having your friends asking for help… Perhaps leaving it as is would make it easier to bow out by claiming “it’s not running right now”! It’s located in LA and advertised here on craigslist $4,950.

The Sanford and Son truck was a 51-52 model. The front is completely different.

NO ROT ??? What’s that on the running board in the pic. Otherwise it looks solid but I would have to check it more closely in person. I just love old trucks.

Nice truck! It’s a little too far away for me but I’m sure that someone is going to have a good time with it. This one needs to come down completely to repair the rust. but it could be done reasonably. It’s interesting that when I was a kid I saw (2) 6 cyl. powered trucks: a ’51 F-1 pickup and a ’52 F4. Now 6 cyl. units seem to be coming out of the woodwork.
