1957 Chevy Wagon For $5,500

right front

This 1957 Chevy Wagon is all original and unmolested. There’s glass missing as well as a few bits, but they should be easily available. This is a California car and said to be relatively rust free, but the seller also says the floors need attention. There is no word on the interior, just a bit of the front seat showing in the picture. The BIN here on eBay is inexpensive at $5,500, but it would certainly need a close look before purchase. It’s a V8 automatic, but that’s all we know about the mechanicals. There are many possibilities here. It would be great if the mechanical work needed were modest enough that you could just add windows, get it running and stopping and drive it like it is. There’s always the resto mod or custom possibilities as well. What do you think? Wouldn’t this make a great driver.

I think it is a great buy for $5500,if it were closer to me I would buy it, but once again a lazy seller with lack of pictures and a poor description.

Does look very affordable. I’m just shocked that I don’t really want it

My father had two of these. The only family vacation we ever took was in one of these in 1964 from Huntington, WVa. to Miami, Fla. Much of it was on state routes at that time. I was eight and it seemed like it took forever to get there and back.

I think this one is priced fairly enough.

Surprisingly nice chrome on this one for the price.

In the item specifics portion of the ebay listing it says it’s a V8, powerglide, etc. It’s not a powerglide based on what I can see, which is a clutch pedal in two of the photos.

I agree with others that this is a very poor description.

I passed on bidding on a 1957 BelAir 4 door wagon in San Antonio at a Leake auction a couple of years ago that was very nice and sold for $14,700.00. You couldn’t get this one looking as nice for that kind of money. I would pass on the $5500.00. Maybe $3500.00.

yes I agree TT….I think it is/was a 3 speed w/od based on the 3 pedals and the t-handle just below the heater controls .

I agree, this is not a Powerglide. Three on the tree.

I picture this car with a 350 V8 / OD trans, painted flat dark gray primer exterior with a cloth & leather light gray interior, B.F. Goodrich T/A radials on chrome reverse wheels with baby moons covering the lugnuts, finally dual exhaust with a pair of thrush mufflers coming out the rear. Too bad I have more upgrades to the Mach1 in my garage or this could be mine.

“Untouched and shows as such. All trim.”
Do you have the chrome trim strakes that are missing from the hood?

“Typical minimal rust. Floors need to be addressed”
So the floors are minimally rusty? Typically rusty?
OK, I get it…..Hello floors, how rusty are you?

Does it still have the V8 in there? Does it turn over? Could we have a picture? Are you SURE it’s a Powerglide?

I agree that it’s a photographic & description poor listing . But it sure has potential. Certainly more potential than the 57 mini wagon a week ago.

Priced high. I sold a VERY nice, no rust, ’57 wagon resto-rod (TPI EFI, disc brakes, power windows/locks, tilt wheel, working AC, and more) for $16.5 a couple of years back. It would cost way more than that to get this car to the same level.

But this one has good potential for the right price, or for a sentimental buyer.
