The current owner of this 1957 Lincoln bought it in 1965 and drove it until 1973, when he put it in his garage for a 41 year nap. Lots of mechanical work has been done in the last year, including a gas tank, radiator and a new water pump. They haven’t started the engine yet, but it does turn over. There is really no way to know how much work it will take to get this running. It has only 70,000 miles and is likely rust free as claimed, as it’s in the California desert in Lake Elsinore. Bidding here on eBay is currently at $3k, but with 2 days to go, what do you think it might bring? It has a couple of extra doors, some of the chrome needs replateing and there’s an unknown amount of mechanical work to be done.
I thought only Chevrolet made ’57s!

I developed a fascination with ’57 Lincolns after seeing the Disney movie The Shaggy Dog as a child; that fascination culminated in the ownership of two ’57 Lincolns; the first was an all original blue Premiere coupe with leather interior (and the optional self lubing feature) that I bought in ’76 for $350. In ’82 I bought a Premiere 4 dr sedan (one that I had seen around town during my childhood) for $700. It had a continental kit and looked like a barge and was great runner. I kept both cars until 1985, the coupe is still around, I spotted it being loaded onto a roll truck back in 2003, hadn’t seen it since ’85. Talked with the guy that still has it just last year. The other guy I sold the 4 dr to let it go into disrepair and finally scrapped it in about ’87. Only the convertibles have any big value, not sure what this one will go for (looks like a nice car other than the chrome on the bumpers) but I’d be surprised if it went much over $5K. Also notable is the fact that the ’61 Lincoln Kennedy was assassinated in had ’57 Lincoln hubcaps, because Lincoln went to a 14 inch wheel in ’58, and the Kennedy Lincoln had 15s so the parts bin was used to source ’57 caps since nothing later would fit.
funky rear door design….(with the window down) I wonder just how many passengers rushing to exit the vehicle were disemboweled on that stainless fang sticking out of the top of the door….

Cars from this era all seemed to have a ‘brow’ over the headlights, and that area seems to be prone to rust thru.
I love these big land barges! Current bidding has this at between a 4 @ $4800, and 5 @ $2880, according to the OCPG, fall of ’13. This in number 1 condition is showing $24k. I agree with Mike W that the market for these in Sweden and also France is big at this time. Hope it gets a good home and someone will enjoy this for many years to come.
Not that it really matters, but Lake Elsinore is not in the desert. Viewing the current low level of the lake due to the drought, you might think it is however.
My wife and I were both born in 57 so we have been in the market for a 57 car. This is a little too big for our tastes, but cool looking.
