1961 Ford Falcon: Too Original To Rod

1961 Ford Falcon Deluxe

When this Falcon was discovered, the seller had intended to turn it into a hot rod, but as they began working on it they discovered how original it was. They put all plans on hold and reevaluated what to do with it. After finding things like all the original registration cards, they decided to find a different project to rod and sell this to someone who will preserve it. They have listed it here on eBay in Hemet, California with a starting bid of $4,200. Our thanks to Jamie P for this find! If this great looking Falcon really is a running survivor, it seems like a great buy! What do you think?

Been there done that. I bought a 1934 Ford pick-up many years ago with the intent to make an awesome street rod. I discovered it had all the documents, 47000 certified miles, a running flat head V-8 , operating mechanical brakes, clutch transmission and an almost rust free straight body and fenders I couldn’t bring myself to cut on it. I sold it to a collector who vowed to restore it to its former glory.

Had one. Bought it new. Had no glove box lid, not radio, no heater, and manual transmission that would get hung up on one of three forward gears. Still, it got me through my military stint, my kids tonsillectomies, and two “impoverished” Christmases.

Wouldn’t want one now, but beauty is still in the eye of the beholder. Just glad the thing came with a spare.

Cousin bought one new. Parked, on the street, wind from the rear, opened the driver’s door and it blew all the way around to be up against the front fender; Not very sturdy.

      It did that twice ?

You would think an owner would learn from the first time and make sure it’s locked well or parked the other way, no ?

it is a no reserve listing which is good. it needs a PI looking for rust as these are untibody. but if no rust this would/could make a nice daily drive if you can live with the automatic. i love falcons as they had a great impact on my life. i think they were the right car at the right time. great find
