1963 Dodge Dart Barn Find For $300

dart

This seemingly solid Dodge Dart has been in storage for over 15 years, and hasn’t been started for at least that long. Located in Medina, Ohio, and up for sale here on eBay, the Dart has the famous slant 6 engine and looks relatively complete despite the long storage. All the glass and trim seem to be intact and some of the tires are even still holding air. I’m guessing that’s original paint, or if not at least the original color scheme. Ford Pinto wheel covers don’t help the appearance, but I’m thinking some “steelies” and center caps would add just the right amount of sportiness. And how can you go wrong for only $300? This seems like a very low-cost way to get into a hobby car, and if you find there is something terminally wrong, you could always part it out. Your thoughts?

Swap in a 225 w/ Clifford Research intake, Holley 390 cfm “Bug spray”carb and a header and have a fun playtoy that gets good gas mileage…

I like it, a prime candidate for a 360 mopar performance crate motor with a warmed over torqueflite & go from there. Providing of course the iron moths havent decimated the floor boards or 1/4 panels, besides that it has dice door lock pulls,,,,, neat !

I’d love this car if it wasn’t so far away. The pictures bring back memories so vivid that I could actually SMELL the interior when I was looking at the picture!

This looks like a good project car. These were simple cars and very durable. This is a cheap way into this hobby. New upholstery, paint, check mechanicals and enjoy!

I had the Valiant equivalent to this car. I agree with Ed, simple mechanic’s, local auto parts probably can get everything ( mechanical, anyway) Lots of people have Dodge Dart or Valiant stories. 1st year for this style.

Best series for the Dart. And no, they aren’t ugly. The lines are really cool. I’ve owned 5 of these, and they are well built and just bulletproof. The slant 6 (the leaning tower of power) is among Detroit’s finest engines.

Get this for around a grand, and I’d bet money that 225 would start right up after a quicky tune-up. Put another 2K into tires and brakes and fluids and hoses, and you’ve got one cool cruiser. If I weren’t relocating right now, I’d buy this car. It’s awesome.
