1964 Plymouth Valiant: Ready For The Apocalypse?

front

We often wonder what to do with nice old cars that aren’t terribly collectible, like this ’64 Valiant that’s been converted into a truck. Someone came up with an idea on how to give it a new lease on life, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. Jamie pointed this one out, so thanks! Perhaps if I brought this home, my wife would find the old Mercedes suddenly more appealing. You can see it in action on YouTube, but prepare to yawn! Also prepare to hear the roar of the mightily slanted six! Look at that pedestrian flee, or at least quicken his pace a bit as it approaches and watch the beast as it stalks the bump in the road! (That’s why he’s almost stopping, for the bump, right?) The pickup bed conversion is rather nicely done. For once, the lack of rust is almost a shame. Bidding here on eBay is up to $610 with a BIN of $4500. Perhaps this would make a great entrant into the 24 Hours if LeMons? Or perhaps, if the price is cheap enough, remove the mods and repaint it just enough to please your wife, and have a cheap 4 door pickup?

At least one too many zeroes on the Buy It Now price. A mildly diverting joke but hardly worth a fraction of the ask.

My first car was a ’68 Valiant, and I have a soft spot for these cars. I prefer mine in original form, but this does have a utilitarian appeal.

He’s already in Vegas so why not truck on over to Ricks Pawn Shop, I’m sure if Chumley is on duty he will give him a couple grand for this.

I see it as a featured vehicle at Burning Man.

Now where to mount the flame throwers?

It’s something of a cross between a Mad Max tribute car and a homage to a Flying Tigers P-40 Tomahawk. I like both, but the combo is, well, different.
But, hey, as long as he’s having fun….

It’s cool, in a “Who cares? Have some fun” way!

Here’s a fun idea! The bidding is at only $676.66, so throw in a bid then show it to your wife and say “Look what I bid on honey”. I guess it how funny it might be depends on how comfortable your couch is. I think the mouth looks more like a clown than a P-40.

It’s probably too personalized to be worth much money, but it’s fun and looks better-built than I’d expect for such a thing. Guranteed to get more attention than a new eff-off-orange Lamborghini.

Somebody has too much old paint lying around and time on their hands.

Never thought i would see so much hate for a car no one wanted in the first place. I built it for fun. Junk similar to this sold for more than i wanted…Don’t worry about this offensive car that everyone hates so much…its being parted out & scrapped.

I dig it—where’d you get the bed material?
