1965 Ford Country Squire Survivor

1965 Ford Country Squire

If you’ve been reading this site for very long, then you probably know that I’ve been hunting around for a Country Squire for a while now. I’ve found a few, but they are usually too rough or too expensive or both. Well, this one is still a little rich for my blood, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want it badly! It’s a 1965 model in black over red with a 352 V8 out front and lots of room in the back. The seller claims that the car is all original and boy, does it look stunning! Find it here on eBay out of San Luis Obispo, California.  Thanks goes to Charles H for the tip!

Red Interior

The only thing that would make this beauty better would be the Magic Door Gate that Ford introduced the following year. It allowed the door to drop or swing to the side. That’s alright though because this thing has a stunning red interior. It may get old on long journeys, but it does add some flair to an otherwise utilitarian family hauler.

352 V8

There’s the 352 V8. It might not be the biggest engine option available at the time, but it was a nice compromise right in the middle. The seller claims that the car only has 70k on it. That is believable after looking at the photos, but as always you will want to do your due diligence before spending this kind of money.

Acres of Wood

We would have to sell a whole lot of t-shirts to be able to bring this one home, so I suppose I’ll just have to wait until something more affordable pops up. It was fun to admire this station wagon though. That’s a funny statement actually. I really doubt people will say that about today’s minivans and SUVs in 50 years, but you never know…

Collectors would have looked at you like you were insane if you had said “I admire station wagons” as little as 15 years ago!

If Barrett-Jackson ever sends a Dodge Caravan down the line I’ll know I’ve lived too long…and yes, my wife drives one most days.

Clean wagon! Especially since it originated in Ohio some chassis pics are needed.

Hate to break it to you but I have been to BJ’s Scottsdale Auction for about five years running. I have seen a lot lower, that’s hard to do, vehicles than a Dodge Caravan, run across that stage!! What do you think they do the first day of the actual auction? They sell off a LOT of, what I would call pimped up junk, but they classify as “lower end” vehicles.

My Grandfather was a salesman for ALCOA for forty years. This was his last company car before he retired. They let him keep it upon his retirement. That red interior was bright, but one of the sharpest ever. My brother and I used to sit in that back facing read seat and make faces at drivers behind us. Sucking on Lifesavers and playing the fool.
