1965 Sunbeam Alpine: Convert Or Restore?

00000_5jzK5vDjSzI_600x450

Amazing, this Alpine hasn’t already been converted into a Tiger clone, which means you could either get it running again as a proper Alpine or build it into a Tiger if you are so inclined. Listed here on craigslist Nashville, Tennessee but parked in Alexander City, Alabama and priced at $3,800 this one owner Mk V needs a lot of work. The owner says that this is a solid Southern car and has never been on a salted road surface. It has been in a barn since 1978 when their Great Aunt Maggie passed.

Aunt Maggie purchased the car new in Atlanta and the owner says she “absolutely loved the car.”  The present owner considered, as many do and you maybe one also, to convert this Alpine to a Tiger. We don’t know if the original engine spins. There are no images provided of the underside, floor-pans, or truck. The owner says that the hubcaps, jack and spare are there and included in the sale.  The front bumper is slightly dented and is included, but not pictured. The $3,800 includes free delivery! Since the ad is placed in Nashville we assume that is where the “free delivery” is to. This one-owner 46K mile Sunbeam Alpine appears to be ready for a new owner who will love it once again. These are few and far between these days, so do you have room for it?

Cheers,
Robert

With all due respect to Aunt Maggie, that’s a parts car.

Never saw salt, but sitting in that barn it sure found a lot of other disagreeable things to play with.

Priced more than double what it should be.

    Parts car.
And Alpines make lousy Tigers without tons of work. Not to mention, they have their own charms.

Working on my nephew’s Mk5 right now. They are very over built and strong but very complicated sills to work on and the floor pans are equally complicated. These make MGB sill and floor repairs seem like a walk in the park. Looking at this, I have to assume they will both need a lot of work. I would think it was at least $2500 over priced.
