1966 Chevrolet El Camino 4X4

1966 Chevrolet El Camino 4X4

This beast may not be a barn find, but we have featured a few of these strange conversions in the past and this could be the nicest… whatever these things are called, we’ve ever seen! It started life as a ’68 El Camino, but was transformed into a mean machine by dropping the body onto a K5 Blazer chassis. Now power from the 350 V8 goes to all four wheels and it sits about as high as your standard SUV. It may seem like a waste of a perfectly good El Camino, but I bet you’d more looks in this thing than you ever would have in the stock car. Plus you should be able to go just about anywhere you dang well please. Find it here on eBay where bidding is currently around $8k with only a few hours left.

It is one of the nicest ones I’ve seen and I wouldn’t mind having it if it were closer to me. The one thing he states is he has it titled and insured as a 66 El Camino well if it gets wrecked all that 4×4 stuff his insurance will not cover unless it is stated in a clause that they were aware it’s conversion and agreed to cover the 4×4 conversion.

Much better than the 4X4 DeLorean from a couple of weeks ago!

I wonder how hard it would be to put it back…

If you found a good running but rusted 66 El Camino you could just unbolt and swap bodies, simple as that.

not my cup of tea, but looks fairly well-done…..

51 bids from 23 bidders says somebody certainly likes it!

I’m no expert but it does look like a good build. Looks like an honest description in the Ebay listing. I hope the seller (builder?) gets top price, but bid to $8300 so far and that might not cover the total cost of building it.

Although the seller’s got it registered as an El Camino, you could argue that it’s really a K5 Blazer with an El Camino shell swapped onto it. My two cents worth of semantics.

It does look like a quality conversion. I would prefer a truck!

Really clean, I’d roll it. I wonder what the reserve is, that current bid is definitely below its value.

At $8,400.00 I would say someone did really well on this one. I would have paid that and felt like I got a deal.
