1967 Olds 442 Convertible + Bonus Car!

1967 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible

That’s right, two Oldsmobiles for the price of one! There are some great options for the 1967 Olds 442 convertible if it’s as nice as described – a numbers matching car needing only a trunk floor and heads for the engine. The included 1967 Cutlass Supreme could be used for a few parts or possibly even restored to at least a driver, depending on it’s condition that is. As always there are lots of questions. If the trunk is rusted through, how much more rust will you find when you look at the bottom? After sitting for 35 years with the heads removed, is the block going to be rebuildable? If you have the means, this Olds convertible might be worth a full restoration. Otherwise, one could have a nice car to enjoy driving by doing the minimum – engine rebuild, interior, top and necessary mechanicals. I hope someone buys it to drive and enjoy rather than turning into an auction queen that’s never driven and enjoyed.

As for the second Olds, they state it only has 67k miles and it runs and drives well. Would you use it for parts or do you think it’s worth fixing up as a driver? The front of the hood is rusty so there is surely to be more rust. These Olds are located in Sonoma, in California’s wine country and listed here on craigslist. (Note: If anyone is really interested in this olds and isn’t satisfied with the the information the owner provides, I might be able to have a look for you. My wife is always happy to take a day getting all smiley tasting wine.)

My favorite car of all time. I’d bite if I was in CA.

Very apparent that neither car is a lifetime Californian…unfortunately…

From what I see in the pictures and can put together from his description I am thinking $7500 top price he would get, if he is very lucky. The 442 looks to need a complete tear down to bring back, so $6k max. and the sedan just good as a parts car, $1.5k max. How did the hood on the sedan get so rusty? Agree with Mark E, not a CA car at all.

Both are California cars. The Holiday coupes was for So. Cal and the Convertible is from Redding. The convertible’s rust issues end at the trunk floor. It had a trunk mat that trapped moisture and rusted it from the inside out. The hardtop has rust issues in the roof as it was a vinyl top car that sat in S.F. I know it’s easy to make comments on guessing, but if you saw the two cars in person I think you would have a different opinion. The 442 is very restorable and is original paint. What you see is what you get.

It is a real 442 but it was built in Lansing, MI, however that is not to say that it wasn’t imported to CA when new. The real 442’s built in Fremont, CA are the hardest ones to verify as 442’s because the cowl tags didn’t use the accessory codes and therefore didn’t have the “5V” on the tag. I would love to add them to my stable.
