1968 Chevrolet Biscayne: Fire Wagon

1968 Biscayne Wagon

We haven’t been bashful about our appreciation for big old station wagons. There is just something cool about a big family hauler with an even bigger V8. This 1968 Biscayne Wagon, which can be found here on eBay, spent most of its life as a member of the Stockton Illinois Fire Department. The 307 cui V8 wasn’t the biggest engine ever offered in these wagons, but it currently runs and drives. The next owner always has the option to install a big block under that massive hood. The seller claims they have just recently put 100 miles on it without any problems, so it could make for a good driver. I am a little concerned about the rust, but there is a lot of steel here so for the time being it shouldn’t be much of an issue. The seller has most of the car’s original documentation, making it a bit more interesting. I’m just not sure about their $6,300 asking price. What do you think? Is this running but rusty wagon worth $6k?

    I have been wanting a chevy station wagon for years. Our first car when I was a kid was a 1964 Biscayne wagon. This one is too far away, and too much cancer for me. Thanks guys for all of the “barnfinds”!!

    This would be a perfect mate to the Blues Mobile. It’s fire truck red, has fire truck tires, fire truck motor,………………………

    Pretty cool car. Actually for a Chicago area vehicle of that year it’s amazing the road salt hasn’t done more damage than what’s there. I would only buy it to do a basic patch on bodywork / paint then spruce up interior then drive the wheels off it. Offer 3K since they took the red light and siren out of it.

    From the ad;

    “The Interior is good condition, the headliner has two small tears that can be repaired, the front drivers bottom seat can be repaired, the arm rest covers need replacement, the carpet needs replacement, the dash has some small mounting or switch holes. the rear compartment floor and side panels need to be repainted.”

    I guess my definition of good is quite different from the seller’s.

      One of my favourites is “great condition for the age”.

      Is there a more loaded, subjective and ambiguous comment going?

    Way too much $ for this rust bucket. Considering the rusted out frame rail, this is a parts car.

    Looking at it I would say this car has more like 153,000 miles looking at the rust, and I have to agree, the asking price is a little optimistic considering the work that needs to be done just to make it presentable. But it is nice.
