1968 Chevrolet Camaro for $6k

1968 Chevrolet Camaro

It’s hard for me to say this, but this rusty old Camaro seems like a good buy at $6k. A few years ago I wouldn’t have given this car a second thought, but considering the demand for these today, it doesn’t seem like a terrible starting point. It is up in New York, so there is plenty of rust and the original 327 block is cracked. It has supposedly been sitting in a barn since 1990 so that means a full restoration is in order. Even with the lower powered 2-barrel engine (210hp) these cars are highly sought after by bowtie guys. I would want a 4-speed in mine, but I know many of you wouldn’t mind an automatic. You can find this ambitious project here on eBay for $5,995 or best offer. So, what do you think – is this pony car project worth that kind of money?

I see my one owner car rapidly increasing in value.

The other rusted 1968 Camaro featured that Barn Finds recently featured sold on eBay for $8600. I thought it was worth about half that amount so I am clearly out of touch with market values.

I think that’s a very good deal considering my friends neighbor traded a 67 Camaro convertible shell. Even kept the Camaro rims and still traded for a fully custom magazine featured Chevy S10 it’s pretty amazing.

Looks pretty good to me. I like the clean, simple lines. Nothing hidden from view, either, except maybe some bondo. I’ll spring for it if I was doing a Camaro.

For comparison, do an Ebay search for completed sales
of 1st gen Camaros priced under $6000…currently 28 results.

What world do we live in where a rusty old car with a busted engine is worth six K? I feel like Bizarro Superman.
