This is not the sort of thing you expect to find in a barn, or perhaps anywhere, a wildly customized 1968 VW roadster. The motor was fully rebuilt, but is now frozen. The seller is repairing it, so hopefully that means it will be fuller operational for a test drive. It’s here on craigslist for $4,500 in Vallejo, California. If this is someone’s taste, it could be a great deal if it is in really good mechanical condition. Someone spent a lot of money on this, but did they do anything to stiffen up the pan to make up for the loss of the rigidity of the roof? Also, is it legal to drive with that long exhaust sticking out the back or would you need to tie on a red safety flag? Any ideas what to do with this VW?
now for sale without motor for $2800. tripped over more then 1 of those pipes ” back in the day ” before people got wise and pointed the pipe to the side.
This thing looks like a mistake.
Look at it from the bright side, at least it has dog chains to secure the suicide doors in case they pop open.

I see a well done car still not to my taste but that could be changed easily. I love to have it. The only problem is that I am too far away it would cost me double the price to get it here.

Not my cuppa…but the photos appear to show an incredibly well-done realization of someone’s very unique vision. Projects like this are an indulgence on the part of the builder- the joy is mainly in the actuallizing of it. The builders of such fantasy concepts should never expect the rest of the world [that doesn’t have their unique vision] to ever “get it”. I know this all too personally myself!
