1972 Chevy Vegamino Project!

1972-chevrolet-vegamino

I know, Chevy never made a truck version of the compact Vega, but that hasn’t stopped a few pioneering individuals from creating them. I have only seen a few other Vega wagons-turned-truck and most looked quite poorly done. This one actually looks extremely well done, you could almost believe it was factory built. It currently lacks an engine, but the seller has a rebuilt 305 V8 that comes with it. They don’t make any mention of the fact that this is a truck conversion, which seems odd to me. You really should take a closer look at this conversion, which can be found here on eBay in Putnam Valley, New York with a current bid of $750.

While I usually stay away from conversions, I have to say, I love the idea of this one! Vegas are getting hard to come by making it a bit sad that it was cut up, but it makes it a lot more interesting than a regular Vega ever could. Drop the V8 in the engine bay, get it running, finish patching the rust and you’d have a head turning parts hauler!

Getting it running is going to be a ton of work, but I’d rather do that work than body and paint work. Once you have it running and driving, the rest of the work can be completed as you go. It might not look pretty at first, but you could enjoy it while you finish it up. So what do you think of this Vegamino?

I second that comment, it looks like the one out of our 70 Mach1 that was rebuilt only 10K before we bought it.

up to 999.00 now still kinda cheap. V8 with a nice paint job, would be a head turner. most likely not another one at a cruise or show.

It’s very cool, I wish it was closer.
The car should be stripped and media blasted to get rid of the rust that you can see in the ebay pics. Then the body work can be finished properly. No way this car was even close to being ready for primer.

Well, with a V-8 under the hood, it will slice and dice the competition.

Then you’d call it a Vega Matic, non?

So if you buy this do you have to give up animal products since youre a Vegan?

unless they added a bunch of metal that you can not see this car would be dangerous even with a tired 305. way to much body flex…

Be interested to see how he did that tailgate. The wagons were hatches. I’d look for a GT dash, and find a nice light V8 and 5 speed manual for it.

I have to say, find a windshield first. Had a 79 Sunbird, nationwide search through the glass shop where I worked only found 2. That was almost 10 years ago.
