Things didn’t change much during the time that Land Rover built their Series I, II, and IIIs. Obviously small improvements were made along the way though so if you actually plan on driving yours, it might be a good idea to hunt around for a Series III. They were also the most produced so they should be the easiest to find and repair. People like to hold onto these burly machines though so finding a cheap one can be a challenge. Well, if you are anywhere near Scarborough, Ontario in Canada then this might be your chance! The seller must have updated the ad right after we listed this. Probably received a few very excited phone calls. Oh well!

Seriously though, with the low mileage & work done on it, $14.5 is not a bad price if it doesn’t have serious rust issues.
around here $1500 dollars will buy you 3 of the newer ones,there is one down the street from me,that has been for sale so long that the for sale sign blew away a couple of years ago ,when winter came around the windows remained down through the whole winter

I had a chance to drive one a number of years ago and no thanks. Agricultural is about how I would describe it. My brother-in-laws John Deere was as comfortable and had heat in the winter and rusted less. Oh and parts were cheaper for the John Deere.
I drove one from about 1998 to 2003 in Phoenix AZ. Yeah – even through the summer. Every day. I got of working on it all the time but after a long day at work, it never failed to put a smile on my face. I hated to see it go….but I’ll likely never own another one.
I’ve used the word ‘agricultural’ for cars that I didn’t buy because that’s the way I thought they drove and it sure annoyed some folks, but I’ll bet that nobody will quibble with that word used for this old Land Rover.
On the other hand, it would definitely be a vehicle that I would choose to get across the Serengheti Plain safely. But in my experience the only thing that was similar between the Serengeti Plain and Toronto was all the potholes from the repeated freeze-thaw that happens there every year.
Thats the word I use for Harley Davidson motors,I say that would make a good pump motor,try saying that to a biker you might get punched
Well I was excited about the $1400 price too.. Especially because the car is located only 2 blocks away from me. I can’t swing the 14 grand though.
