1974 Volkswagen Camper: Dorper Conversion

left front

This 1974 VW Camper was stored from 1982 until 2012 and has only seen 52,000 miles of road. It is completely original and an amazing survivor in near mint condition. It has however undergone an extensive mechanical restoration including brakes and fuel restoration as well as a new clutch and new tires. After it was revived, the owner took it on a long trip. The conversion is by Dorper of Canada. The seller provided a lot of detailed pictures. There aren’t any signs of rust and the interior looks almost new. Who knows how bidding here on eBay will go, but perhaps this will be a less expensive option than a Westie. It’s in Longview, Washington. It appears to be ready for an adventure. Thanks to Jim S for the find.

That is a pretty nice van. You’d be hard pressed to find one that clean especially one that hasnt been restored.

I’ve been into VW buses for over 20 years AND I’m Canadian and I’ve never heard of a Dorper conversion.

    Very desireable rig!

Not as rare as the seller thinks, other than the nice condition and low mileage that is.
All Canadian market cars got the gas aux heater. Kassan (not Kansas) red isn’t all that rare either not to mention dual carbs just cause it has them doesn’t make them rare.
Granted it is a really nice bus and would make a very nice driver and if I was on that side of the pond I would give it some serious thought but I’m not and the shill bidder is going to run this one up higher than its worth.

It is being sold by a dealer. eBay used to take reports of fraud like this, perhaps they still do.The seller’s website is http://www.westcoastsamba.org.

To report shill bidding: Go to item’s page, scroll down one bump. There’s a link: “report Item” on right side of page. You will be directed to a page with 3 dropdown boxes. Choose “Listing practices” for first box; choose “fraudulent listing activities” in the 2nd box and then choose “seller is using other accounts to inflate item price” Hit submit and they will take care of the investigation. Do this for both vans, once they see the pattern, his auctions will be shut down.

I owned a 1968 Dorper conversion that I purchased in 1970. Dorper and rival company Hanover did conversions of vans for many years. Both I believe were based in the Fraser Valley. Back in the day if you had one of these conversions you were an elite above the Westfalia. Mine had a huge tent that suspended off the side for additional room. I wish I still had it.
