1975 BMW 3.0 CS: Once DD’d

bmwcs

Lately, I’ve been paying a bit more attention to my M3. Why? Well, I’ve decided I’m going to hold onto it for a while and there are some items I’m afraid could become bigger, more expensive problems if I don’t deal with them now. It’s this sentiment that you wish the owner of the 1975 BMW 3.0 CS coupe here on eBay held when dealing with the first of some minor problems that likely grew to the point that the E9 was parked. That’s the problem with putting little nuisances off when it comes to repairing BMWs – inevitably, they turn into much bigger and more expensive issues that can potentially prevent you from driving the car at all. This once daily-driven example has some nice features, especially the Euro bumpers and BBS wheels. It doesn’t run currently, so some work is needed – and while it has rust in spots, it’s far from the worst I’ve seen. Would you give this E9 a home?

Too bad, these are a great looking design but this one is rusty underneath from the look of the front fender attachments and the seller’s description, which sounds very honest. The rust he describes in the suspension towers is going to be a serious problem since you can’t rely on the car hanging together unless that’s fixed, and these rusted badly when given the chance, which I think this car got. The low asking reflects that, to the seller’s credit.

These are beautiful cars but are really cruisers, especally with the auto transmission that’s in this one. The performance is modest, the ride is good and also firm, but the best part is how good they look. It will take a dedicated buyer to spend the effort and money to make this car right. With only $5K, no reserve, and no bids yet this one might have to go for even less since you can still get a decent driver for less than it will cost to fix this one properly.

Front shock towers are toast and that means you’re upside down before you start….

restomod father-son project with a modern BMW engine. More story/time with son than making money. Cannot see buying or any value any other way.
