1976 Ford Bronco Project For $6k?

This 1976 Ford Bronco looks plenty tough with its bolt-on fender flares and white-painted “wagon” wheels, but the seller contends that this project will require a significant amount of rust repair before it sees road-going use. The Bronco has been parked for many years in High Ridge, Missouri, and is said to be complete aside from the missing metal in various places. Find the Bronco here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $6,000 and the option to submit a best offer.

Pictures aren’t the greatest, but the top layers of the body appear to be in reasonable condition and the factory hardtop is intact. These nearly vertical windshields are vulnerable to rocks and other debris, but all glass looks solid. The Bronco retains most of its cosmetic trim, including badges and a driver’s side mirror, so despite being parked, it doesn’t appear to have been harvested as a parts truck.

On that note, the seller mentions the truck retains a stock drivetrain with the venerable 302 and an automatic transmission. Here you can see some of the rust issues the seller mentions, as the floors are showing daylight in the corner of the driver’s side footwell. Surface rust is certainly prevalent, and it looks like more corrosion may be hiding where the door hinges attach to the body.

It’s tough to be sure, but I believe this is above the rear tire in the rear storage compartment, which shows more daylight poking through an area where the floor once resided. Overall, the Bronco is a mixed bag as it’s hard to be certain just how rusty it is – but given these rigs weren’t always as treasured as they are now, it’s certainly possible this one was ridden hard and put away wet. Is it worth making an offer on?

Eh, a bargain. Once restored it’ll sell for what, $175,000, based on what we’ve seen lately? Had it been the all-coveted standard shift, you’ve got an even quarter-mil. OK maybe not, but prices are goofy even by auction-show standards these days.

914 money maybe. There aren’t a lot of classic Porsches that you can buy for $6k even in project form these days.

Maybe a great deal? If I lived near this thing, I’d show up with $3k cash, scrub the snot out of it, buff out that paint, shine it up and put it back on eBay at no reserve.

Those flares are made to hide a multiple of sins. You see many on pickups to hide the rot. Pictures are lousy, what are these people thinking. I don’t get it. A lazy flipper who thinks he’s got gold. Looker over good.

When what used to be sheet metal is in a pile of small rusted pieces you’ve got a $500 max Bronco here.

That is what sensible car people are thinking – sadly the majority of potential buyers in the early Bronco market nowadays seem to have more $ than reason…

I think the first gen bronco guys are smokin what the rusty mopar guys are smokin. To spend this kind of money on a rattle bucket has to be either stoned or in love. Either way your wits are not with you.

A few of you need to look at what first-gen Broncos are going for these days. They aren’t cheap anymore anywhere.

This rig is in what people nowadays call “storage” sitting on a rock pile next to the back fence. If someone thinks this rust pile is worth 6k grab it. 500 bucks is more like it BobHess. Later…………………………………..JIMMY
