1976 Porsche 911S Hot Rod

Most enthusiasts love Porsche’s 911 models, especially the classic models. Because of their unfortunate susceptibility to rust, there aren’t too many clean examples left, but this 1976 Porsche 911S that’s available here on eBay is a clean and very tastefully modified sports car.

This Porsche is available in Birmingham, Alabama with a clean title. Despite that, the seller notes that this vehicle spent most of its life being garage-kept in southern California and it is a rust-free example.

The body features original Sahara Beige paint and it features no dings, dents or notable problems. This is also a slicktop 911, which is a rarity, and it’s also worth mentioning that this Porsche benefits from various 911SC parts throughout, such as lowering suspension and brakes that hide behind the bronze powder-coated Fuchs wheels.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find a tidy interior. The seller believes that the front seats received restoration at one point, but the rest of the interior is mostly original, with the exception of a Momo Legend steering wheel and a Blaupunkt stereo system.

This 911 uses a 911SC running gear, which consists of a 3.0-liter flat 6-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. The advertisement does not list mileage, but the seller mentions that this 911 starts each time and drives great, with the sports car running strong and going through all of the gears without any issues.

At the time of publication, bidding is at $20,107 with the reserve not met. What do you think of this narrow body 911?

I had one of these in the 80’s similar to this one. Mine was a 75 and triple black and I had backdated the bumpers and added a whale tail, because that is what you did in the 80s as a 20 something with a Porsche.
I liked the look of the car, and it didn’t have to many nasty surprises, oil leaks, timing chain tensioner replacement and a broken clutch fork was the worst of it, but I never liked driving it. I purchased an alfa gtv6 near the end of the time owning it and the alfa was such a better visceral driving experience.
I have driven several Porsches since then but never been enticed to buy one though a Cayman came close.

I would like to see compression readings on all six cylinders, that would speak volumes on the condition of the innards.Porsches are like canines, they mark their territory but with oil (like old VWs). What does the ground look like where this car was parked?

“Porsches are like canines, they mark their territory but with oil (like old VWs)”. Don’t forget old Harley Davidsons too.
