1977 Corvette Sport Wagon

1977 Corvette Sport Wagon

In the seventies, what was a guy to do if he wanted a sports car with some hauling capacity? Well, he could have had the guys over at Greenwood perform their Sport Wagon conversion on a Corvette! The end result was unique looking and offered much more utility than the standard Vette. You would think that there couldn’t have been many of these built, but we have featured quite a few over the years. So, there may not be a lot, but they sure seem to hit the market often. Some cars were built by Greenwood, but there was also a kit available in the Ecklers catalog for DIYers. This 1977 example sounds like a good one, but the seller’s foggy photos make it hard to see all the flaws. The auction found here on eBay ends soon though so unless you live in the area, you probably won’t have to time to get an inspection done in time. Too bad, because there are few wagons that are cooler than a Corvette Sport Wagon!

Otherwise known as a Corvette Shooting Brake, with a nod to our British friends. I like it!

great car for little money, 4 speed is a plus, I’d be happy driving this thing with a modern motor/tranny combo in it

seller has 22 items listed on ebay including 2 cars. neither car is the sellers as he is selling them for a friend. interesting car but, unless this seller is a dealer, i would be talking to the owner directly. i too think a PI is needed. the manual trans is a plus. great find

UGH !!! nice car but super crappy photos, most cell phones take decent pics but this looks like he didn’t ever clean the lens on his camera. Then he states for sale locally, will not deliver but doesn’t post where the car is located except in the United States. Ebay is beginning to amaze me, they need to set guidelines then monitor and stick to them or you can’t post an auction.

Or when you are the highest bidder on a no reserve auction and the seller cancells the auction with one minute left because it “sold locally” when bidding didn’t go high enough

According to a guy on Panama City FL CList these are rare–ALSO HAVE A RARE 1 OF 10 MADE CORVETTE ‘NOMAD’ STYLE WAGON, SHOWN IN THE PAST …….SHOW READY NOW ALSO……MADE BY GREENWOOD-ECKLER 22K. I never did like them, the 78 bubble back style gave some added room, I had a 78 Silver Anniversary clone that was better looking to me.

Having seen a few of these “back in the day” the DIY versions had problems cracking where the new edition met the original body.

Needs to know what he is selling,,,greenwood only made one and this is not it, Mike Guyette sold it to an Australian buyer a couple years ago. This particular kit was sold by ACI (American Custom Industries), and models where the windows do not cut into the roof were kits from Ecklers. Also there is a dark blue one for sale in Georgia in excellent cond, i believe the price being asked is $13000.
