1978 Dodge Warlock: In Time For Halloween!

truck left

There are many strange things listed on craigslist but you don’t often see a Warlock, and this one is yours for only $5,500. In the late 1970’s this was Dodge’s idea of an “adult toy”, but that’s probably not a good name to give them these days. They were promoted as factory customizable or  “trick truck” and were typical of the “badge engineering” of the time. They were offered only in black, red, orange or green. The Warlock features included custom wheels, wide tires, bucket seats and oak side rails. They had black interiors accented by gold trim on the dash and the doors and a special steering wheel. You could also order bucket seats, power steering, five-spoke wheels, tinted glass, and a chore rear bumper.

For only $500 more you’ll receive this attractive PowerWagon! It’s a 1977 or 197878 with a 318 automatic. It’s missing the drive shaft and plenty of other bits.

front

The seller claims the Warlock runs, drives, has a rebuilt transmission and new rear brakes. There’s not a lot of rust showing. Perhaps with a little work it could be a driver or even a work truck. How much would you do for the appearance? And would you leave Warlock on the tailgate?

Well IMO the Warlock is worth maybe $2K and the Power Wagon is a parts truck and since one is 2 WD and the other is 4 WD it wouldn’t make sense to take both unless I had another Power Wagon needing parts.

I had a ’78 Warlock with a 440″ , wanna talk about a fast truck, it was scary fast. We used it as a tow vehicle for my brothers ’66 Belvedere II, HP2 Street Hemi, only bad part of the whole truck was the bed, the wood floor was for the most part missing and the only thing holding it on was gravity, mine was Black with most of the gold striping gone but it had factory A/C, Tilt , Cruise Control, that all worked. Sometimes I miss that truck.

I don’t see anything here that’s worth much. A tired, worn out 318, body and interior. Probably just a simple 3 speed….These things drink lots of gas just motoring along. Too much asking for what’s here in my opinion….just one mans opinion…..maybe someone sees different.
