No Reserve Aerocoupe: 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

This 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe shows over 100,000 miles but appears to remain in very good condition. The seller notes it is being sold as a fundraiser for the EDH Promise Foundation Veterans & Heroes Memorial in El Dorado Hills, California. The previous bidder that won the car paid the sale price but donated it back to the entity to raise more funds. Find the Monte Carlo here on eBay with bidding just over $10K and ending today.

It’s interesting: despite the incredibly kind gesture of giving the car back after winning it, the sellers clearly want the Monte Carlo to physically find its way to a new garage. The no reserve listing will help to ensure it finds a new forever home, and with the clean presentation and gorgeous paint, I don’t see anyone giving this Aerocoupe back twice.

With just over 6,000 made, these Aerocoupes are considered collector’s items by enthusiasts. I tend to think they’re in more of a middle ground at the moment, as their values haven’t moved that much despite everyone knowing these were limited production models. The maroon example seen here is also the one made in the highest quantity of the batch.

No details are offered in the listing about options packages, and like almost any GM product, there were quite a few ways to outfit a Monte Carlo. From positraction to upgraded stereos to HD suspension, the seller’s claim that the car was appraised at $26K could be based on some nice add-ons as well as the condition. Bid now for a good cause.

I have to commend the sellers for donating the proceeds to a worthy cause, vs. someone’s hunger for greed. I hope it brings a good amount!

      Ya, “special order” ! Lol
I owned an 86 Monte SS, if they put a fuel injected 350 Z/28 engine in these they would have been a excellent muscle machine, but the 305 was quite the dog.
I admit mine was an excellent cruiser, but fast wasn’t a word associated with the Monte Carlo SS !
I’ll always love the style and the int was quite comfy, but I’d still have one, but for the 305 !

I had an 87, with the ONLY engine available, the lowly 305. But… the 3:73 gear along with the 4 speed automatic with a fairly steep 1st gear (2.74) made it “fairly” fun to drive. Not nearly as much fun as my 87 Grand National though:-)

Not uncommon for someone to donate the car back. Someone just did that with an Audi at my church. After paying the taxes, a 10K donation will do wonders for your annual tax return

Aeros are low production to a point, but ugly and zero trunk space. I had an 88 SS flat deck in 1991. Great car. Wish I never sold It.

I have always loved the Monte Carlo SS but never the aerocoupe model. Make mine white with t tops. Looks like a good car but there is alot of low mileage cars out there.

Back in the early 90’s both of my older brothers each had An 87 Aero coupe. Both Maroon like this one. Identical except one had maroon interior and the other was grey inside. Neither was a big performer with the 305 “HO”, but compared to similar cars of the day, not too bad. They shoulda been designed with a hatch like the f body camaro from the same year. The trunks were almost unusable!
