1989 Isuzu I-Mark: Steering By Lotus

1989 Isuzu I-Mark Lotus

When I think of Isuzus, the last thing I think of is performance, but they have actually made some interesting and fun little cars! Take this I-Mark, while it is based on the somewhat mundane Gemini, it could be optioned to be a fun little car. This one was optioned with the Lotus handling package, which added a stiffer suspension and bigger sway bars! As you can see, this one has been parked in a bush and is slowly being overgrown. It will certainly be a labor of love to bring it back, but with bidding starting at just $350 and no reserve, it has potential! Find it here on eBay in Crawfordville, Florida. Special thanks to Robert R for this tip! So would you save this Isuzu?

I think the headline should be suspension by Lotus.

Are you referring to the fender badge?

Maybe good for a parts car? If there are any other still around.

Believe it or not, I lusted after one of these when they were new…they were tantalizingly close to my budget, and I liked the Lotus connection and monochromatic paint scheme. Mine would have been red, though. Ended up with a used Peugeot 505 wagon instead…that’s a long story.

The best part of Isuzu was Joe isuzu. Loved those commercials. The impulse was my favorite. Also always liked the troopers

I’m still on the hunt for a clean Impulse Turbo, cory – always been a dream car of mine. And Jamie, you know there’s a sickness at work when your first choice is an Isuzu I-Mark and you end up with a 505 wagon! Love it.

I have never been accused of being sane when it comes to automobiles :-)

I sold these Isuzu as brand new cars from 87 to 92, they were sturdy cars, the Turbo start fonctionning at 3500 rpm, you had to hold the steering well. They were a blast to drive, but when i drove an Impulse Turbo Intercooler awd, oh men, that was scary.

Damn I need this for parts, I have two of these and I love them simple but tough to find suspension or interior parts
