23K Miles Survivor: 1969 Chrysler New Yorker

Chrysler had a successful run of its full-size cars from 1965 to 1968, but in 1969 it was time for a new body style. The famous fuselage body style was incorporated, with sales slightly down from the previous year. Up front was a full loop bumper with a wide grille and headlights within the loop, and parking lights on the lower portion of the bumper. Here is a 1969 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hardtop for sale here on Classics on Autotrader in Charlestown, Rhode Island.

The new design still included front vent windows, while Ford and General Motors had eliminated them on most of their full-size models. Chrysler did eliminate rear fender skirts but would bring them back in a couple of years. The rear had thin wide taillights positioned above the bumper that wrapped up onto each rear fender. Bodyside molding is included with chrome rocker and fender extension molding. The car is extremely clean and is finished in Ivory paint with a black vinyl roof.

The seats are finished in upholstery materials of Jacquard-weave nylon in black with a 9-inch wide center armrest. The New Yorker included a lighted ignition switch that was activated by the front doors. Headrests were used for the front outboard seating positions. The only interior picture shows the seats to be in great condition with no rips or tears.

Under the hood, we find a 440 cubic inch V-8 engine mated with a TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The car has been driven only 23,000 miles in 50 years. The seller is asking $7,800 for this extremely clean car. Are you ready for a top line Chrysler fuselage model?

Hmmm- a low mileage, original 440…I wonder if that engine is destined for a ’69 Charger…

    Beautiful car.
Love the look of the 4dr hardtops.

While I consider myself to be sharper then the average citizen on fuselage c-bodies, no one that hangs out here is average.

Does anyone know the reason for the lack of the wide stainless trim just under the lower body line I see on most of these cars? Is it a year to year thing, deleted because of the rocker trim, or just because this is a low option car? I don’t see a/c, a tilt/telescope wheel, nor vacuum do-dads for a remote trunk release.
Thanks in advance to anyone that knows.

Cool car. Could bet it’s destined for Europe. Seems there is a particular fondness for these in the Nordic countries.
