250 Classics At Massive Estate Sale!

1930s-chevy-sedan

It seems like the massive estate sales have been coming out of the wood works lately! First we featured the massive Putnam Salvage yard, with over 1000 cars, and now we’ve got an estate sale in Tennessee that includes about 250 cars! This one doesn’t have as many cars and doesn’t go back as far in history, but there is still some really good stuff here. It’s all being auctioned off online here at Powell Auctions and prices seem really good at this point. You can view the cars on the 14th in Lenoir City, Tennessee and auctions start ending at noon on October 24th. Special thanks to Jason C for this amazing tip!

The auction house doesn’t offer the story behind the estate, so it’s hard to say exactly what to expect, but it’s pretty easy to see that lots of the cars have been wrecked or parted out. There are a few decent barn finds, some shed finds, but the majority of the cars are sitting outside and rough. Given that it’s Tennessee, just assume if it can rust, it probably has some. That isn’t to say there aren’t possibly a few solid cars in here, I just prefer to assume the worst and hope for the best.

The variety of makes and models in this estate really is impressive. There’s American muscle, British sports cars, German vans and everything in between. Since this is an online only auction, all the vehicles have been inventoried, so you can see exactly what is present. Small items, like parts and tools are being sold as lots, so bidding on those items is a bit more of a gamble, but could still be worthwhile.

This seems like another location I would love to go spend some time at! With cars ranging from the 1930’s up to 2005, it’s a great snapshot of the evolution of the automobile. Well I’ll let you guys peruse the auction catalog, it’s rather extensive, but I’d love to hear which of the vehicles you’d like to have!

I would like to think these massive finds and the sale of these vehicles may start lowering the high prices we are seeing in the collector car market…just a thought…

This sale is likely to raise the price of tetanus shots…

Love that 38 Chevy pickup. I’ve taken on ones in worse condition.
Great to see that old iron still out there!

The pile of wood on the Bel air is bs! There is that much on one car, nothing dropped on the floor, mm.
Or is this the kit to make it a woody (fake or what).

I think that wood’s there because,at some point,
someone had to clear the area around the car.

Surely it was worth buying a leaf blower to get rid of the crap on the cars before taking the photos.

Mostly worthless cars that should have been crushed 20 years ago. The few half way decent ones are in such poor shape. Might be fun way to spend the day looking around, but I wouldn’t expect to come home with anything worthwhile.

Also, the title “250 classics” is misleading. I don’t consider 30 1980’s Ford Tauruses and 80’s Cadillacs “classics”.

Obviously nobody is paying much attentionto the collector car market… its a really soft market and prices are down

Gee whiz, lots of rust and a few worthwhile projects. The 38 Chev pick up might be a winner. The 220 Mercedes would cost $$$$$$ to resurrect. most look like future Toyotas. But I’m dang glad it’s too far for me to go pick something up.

link worked, what a broad range, a few really bad off 1940’s to a PT Cruiser. A couple of nice looking Mercedes (but could be totally rusted underneath), maybe you buy 3 or 4 of a kind, and hope to put one good one together? A car I do not recognize, sort of like an E Type Jag, but is not, maybe a Jensen?

Link worked this time. That was a lot of clicking! 301 photos. Lots of scrap metal, but some interesting stuff too. The old wrecker might be fun to have.

I wonder if the barn roof has collapsed onto the 37 Chevy sedan roof in the first pic? I can’t quite tell for sure. Must have been put inside for a reason…

I think you are seeing these collections going to auction because the price of scrap is so low, about $50.0 a ton. If it were where it was, around $250.00/ton I doubt you would see these showing up.
Which is a good thing, perhaps it brings some neat cars back to life.
