28k-Mile 1990 Ford Mustang GT Survivor

It’s easy to love the “Fox Body” generation of Ford’s Mustang, but there aren’t many bone stock examples remaining. This 1990 Ford Mustang GT Hatchback that’s available here on eBay has some minor imperfections, but it’s also an original and low-mileage Fox Body with many desirable qualities.

This Mustang is available in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania with a clean title. The original owner purchased the vehicle directly from the showroom floor, but due to family issues, she parked the vehicle in a heated garage in 1992, where it sat until the current seller picked it up.

The seller is very honest about the condition of the vehicle, disclosing flaws such as minor scuffs and scratches, peeling clear coat on the wheels, and some chipping on the front bumper. Despite those defects, this Mustang was never involved in an accident and it also has no rust.

Except for a sagging headliner, the interior is close to perfect. All electronic functions, such as the windows, door locks, lights, and horn all work. However, the seller does mention that the air conditioning may need a charge.

This Mustang uses a 5.0-liter V8 engine, which pairs to a 5-speed manual transmission to drive the rear wheels. The drivetrain has a verified 28,939 miles on it, and upon receiving the vehicle; the seller replaced various items in the fuel system (gas tank, fuel sending unit, fuel pump, and filler neck) as well as the spark plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and battery. Thanks to their efforts, this Mustang fired up on the first crank, and it runs and drives excellently.

    These cars were everywhere back in the 80’s and 90’s. They took a lot of abuse delivered decent performance and gas mileage. I didn’t like all of the plastic spoilers when these first came out in 1987 but I grew to like them. They were a decent performance value at around $14,000.

    A nice Fox Body GT. Refreshing to see one without modifications. Some imperfections but nothing severe. It could benefit from an underhood detailing. Could be a nice driver, or with additional effort, a very nice show car. These have a solid following, and with the no-reserve auction, it should be a good gauge on the market value.

    Great engine. Lousy interior and too much plastic, and those horrible bumpers that turn yellow after the clear coat gets fried off. Love these cars. They were everywhere 30 years ago.

      LOL! Yeah those ashtray lids just never seemed to stay closed. They make a repair kit for it.

    It’s funny seeing almost every GT without that stripe going around the body. The first week my friend did to his new black 88 GT was take off the orange or maybe red plastic stripe.

    Back in the day, it was somewhat of a litmus test of your carguy status whether you would want the tarted-up GT or go with a svelte-looking 5.0 LX. Today, with the passage of time, if anything that premise is exacerbated. The rear end/bumper of a GT looks heavy, and the body cladding looks clumsy, I sure think. I’d much rather have the clean lines of the state trooper-esque 5.0 LX!

    I live 10 miles away and if I didn’t have a 93 5.0. Vert ( plus 2 other old cars) I’d go take a look see. But if I brought it home I would be sleeping in it.

    The 5.0 Mustangs earned their status mainly in power and performance, budget priced too compared to the other few hot new cars. Visually they were boxy, already dated looking cars compared to the Camaros and Firebirds. This look here was Ford’s answer, and it really wasn’t necessary,.just a lot going on that gave it a cheesy appearance, to me anyways.Suddenly the five liter LX was the hot ticket.
    It was more of a Ford versus Buick showdown back then, late in the decade. Great times.
