3-For-1: 1971 Chevrolet Corvette

I think that just about everyone likes a 2-for-1 deal, but how about a 3-for-1? That’s what the next owner will be getting with this package deal. It looks pretty good on paper, with two complete, running C3 Corvettes, plus a collection of parts. Located in Comfort, Texas, you will find this fantastic package deal listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now reached $5,203, but the reserve hasn’t been met.

Starting at the top, the first car that the buyer will be getting is this 1971 Corvette Coupe. The restoration process is essentially complete, with only a few minor detail items to be attended to. Finished in Mille Miglia Red, it has a black interior. The only fault that the owner notes is the fact that the gauges don’t currently operate. Otherwise, it appears that there will only be minor work required to return this one to the road.

Under the hood, the Red Corvette is a numbers-matching car. It features the 350ci LT1 V8, producing 330hp. The transmission is a 4-speed manual, while the owner also has the original Tank Sticker to go with the car. It appears that the car is mechanically sound, and is ready to return to the road. It has been sitting in the workshop for about a year but has been started on a regular basis to keep things fresh.

The second part of this deal is a 1970 Coupe, which is in primer and is awaiting restoration. Once again, this is a car that features a 350ci V8 and a 4-speed manual transmission. The good news with this one is that it runs and drives, so it may only be in need of a cosmetic restoration. The third car in the collection is a 1977 model. With this one, what you get is a body, an engine, and most of the interior trim. This would appear to be strictly a parts car. In addition, the owner has accumulated a fair stockpile of other parts over the past 40-years, and these are also included in the sale. This collection includes doors, hoods, glass, and various other components.

This is quite a deal, and depending on where the bidding finally goes, it does have the potential for the next owner to actually either break even or to make a profit on the package. Keeping the Little Red Corvette and flipping the other two would seem to be the obvious answer. What would you do?

The seller’s idea of restored and mine, are a little bit different. It’s hard to tell from the few, poor pictures provided, but I’m guessing the LT-1 had a quick resale paint job applied, and the seller’s calling that restored.

I find it particularly interesting that the nose emblem is installed upside down, and the engine has the right hand valve cover, installed on the left side of the engine (I assume the left one is on the right?).

I think a package deal will be hard to work here unless they are cheap. Corvettes are not fun to restore and a lot of people stay clear of c3 corvette projects.

We will see what they are worth. No one said c3’s are harder to restore.

71 LT1 a bucket list car. 70 more desirable nut too much compression for pump gas. I already have a 73 coupe.
