31k Original Miles: 1990 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

While most Cadillac enthusiasts prefer their cars to be larger than life with rear wheel drive and Northstar V8s, I’ve always been a fan of the more compact Eldorado of the late 80s and early 90s. To me, this generation of Cadillacs was the first one to succeed at integrating a slightly sportier character, a challenge Cadillac still grapples with today. This example here on eBay is in stellar condition, with just 31,000 miles from new and bidding a hair over $2K.

The seller notes the Cadillac is loaded to the gills, from the wire hubcaps to the half-vinyl covered roof. Primrose yellow paint adorns every surface, from the 1/4 coach roof to the bumper covers. Paint condition appears excellent, as does any visible chrome and all lenses and glass. The wire hubcaps aren’t my favorite look, but they work with the new whitewall tires added by the seller.

The interiors were always stunning on these, and this one with its low mileage still presents quite well. Being coddled by that backseat would be a treat, provided it wasn’t too cramped with the front passengers inside. The leather seating surfaces appear to be in excellent condition, along with the carpets and door panels. The seller notes it comes with dual power seats, a digital dash, heated mirrors, premium sound and more.

The 4.5L V8 routes its power through the front wheels, and while that may offend purists, it’s fairly meaningless for a car that likely wouldn’t have handled that well anyway. The engine bay is impressively clean, with matching paint on the strut towers and inside the fenders, and surprisingly lustrous plastic surfaces. While it’s far from the most desirable Eldorado ever built, this still a very affordable starter classic that’s user-friendly enough to see daily driver use.

And they are so fun to drive. They are little rockets with all the toys. I own a ’91 Eldorado in Dark Auburn metallic.

It’s nice and looks better than most cars of that era. Low miles, well cared for and an impressive list of maintenance items completed by the seller. I think it would make a great second car for someone. A solid, well equipped luxury car.

Challenge: What type of after market wheel / tire would look better?

I’d think about the aluminum wheels that came on the Seville Touring with thin white walls….

Cadillac was a massive embarrassment in the 80s and 90s. This Eldo proves it beyond any doubt. The ’73 Eldo looks upon this car like a father looking at his broken condom kid. Looks like one of those sleds that the Mary Kay pyramid “rewarded” it’s top salespeople with. Just enough headroom for the Aquanet-built
    helmet hair-dos of the era.

Good looking car, but virtually impossible for even the above-average backyard mechanic to work on though. I’m out.

I agree with John. Checks all the right boxes. My Grandma had an 86 Sedan Deville in this color combo bought new. You really have to see it in person to appreciate it. I’d drive this with pride.

If I had space for a 5th car, I’d buy it! So well preserved…

Nice car, but a friend of mine had one he purchased new. Had really low miles on it, but it created a computer problem when it was about 20 yearsold, that never did get fixed.

Saw this combo in a convertible conversion in Alexandria Bay N.Y. 4 years ago with southern plates & can’t get it out of my mind. Made me drool then & now. What a beauty!
