327 Four-Speed Barn Find! 1969 Camaro

Does it count as a barn find when it comes from your own barn? That’s the back-story on this 1969 Camaro Sport Coupe in Bailey, Colorado. Offered here on craigslist.org, it runs and drives, though the seller warns that it needs a once-over before being considered road-worthy. Born as a base Camaro with a straight-six and three-speed, it swallowed a warmed-up 327 in 1991, along with a Muncie M-21 four-speed. If that sounds like a good package for $17,500, this could be your lucky day. Thanks to reader Ikey H. for spotting this Centennial State project.

Rusty lower edges suggest a personal inspection or detailed undercarriage pictures would be wise before striking a deal on the phone. Unique fender and quarter-panel lines make the ’69 stand out — a one-year look among first-generation Camaros.

The 1968 Corvette 327 wears the best of early ’90s technology and promises lively performance with the four-speed. With it being a base model and already modified, you can rest easy if this setup is not your cup of tea. LS swap? 502 Big Block? Peugeot turbo-diesel? Go for it!

The white shift ball, no console, and black interior is no flash; all business in here, though some clean-up and carpet dye would go a long way to reaching the asking price. What would you give for this two-owner Daytona Yellow coupe?

It’s to me a12 K car max as it’s a hot rod nom that needs front seat covers ,tires, brakes, carpets ,misc parts, and body work that will exceed 13 grand . The car looks like a decent start but no worries in laughter of lower offer as it’s a non starter to me for buyers dreams of wealth from his old six cylinder base car.

I wish him Good luck with the sale.!

$17,500, firm, in that condition? Uh, no.

Too much. Take the 1 off the price. But I appear to be living in 2015 so who knows? Maybe?

More like early-2000’s. The asking price is too high for the likely amount of rust, but market prices for a running, driving restorable 69 Camaro’s haven’t been in the mid-four digits for 15 to 20 years.

There are still first gen Camaro’s in this condition available for under $10K. As far as not being in that price range for 15-20 years sounds like someone that puts too much faith in what they see on TV.

Otis, there are always deals out there. I’m sure some can be found for less than $10,000, but they are few and far between. Most are likely either being sold to friends or someone that tracked down the owner, not on the open market. I don’t know of anywhere in the US that an owner of a car such as this one couldn’t reach 5 figures without much trouble.

They’ve been selling in that price range in my area for years, there’s lots of competition it not much supply. TV has nothing to do with it.

Since all these TV shows became popular it’s the norm if somebody is asking 20,000 to offer $10,000. Every buyer thinks they’re gas monkey. A car or truck is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I wonder if the six and three speed are still available? Not only would it be original, but wouldn’t it be worth more? That was a good combination and quite drive able , i drove a few out of dealerships when new. I really liked them, and in those days I was a Chrysler man, so that says a lot. Most of us couldn’t afford the V8 insurance. So, if nostalgia is what you are looking for, not to show off, then that is the way to go. Plus a better running and more reliable combination, perfect for a nice Sunday afternoon drive to see the fall colors.

When it came to early nineties tech for a car like this it was pretty much the same as it had been for several decades. Tires, better muflers, sure there was, but it was business as usual. Neat old beater Camaro, I like my cars a little rough around the edges. Just wouldn’t spend a bunch of money on one……

The price seems high to me but I’ve always really like the 327/4 speed combination!!! It makes for a real fun ride!! With the rust work and interior work I think it’s more like a $10,000 car!! I think that’s really generous too!!!
