36,361 Original Miles: 1986 Ford Mustang GT

Bidding is just about to clear the reserve price for this clean, low-mileage 1986 Ford Mustang GT. The description highlights the original mileage of just 36,361 and its pristine condition, thanks to being garage-stored since new. While the Fox Body chassis has always been popular, these “four-eyed” Mustangs pop up far less frequently in the ideal combination of GT trim with the manual transmission. Find it here on eBay with bidding at $9K.

While pictures don’t do the Mustang any justice, it’s clear it hasn’t been messed with too much over the years, as little details like the OEM mudflaps and 10-hole alloy wheels are all true to factory condition. Paintwork looks quite nice and red over gray cloth is a great combo for anyone hunting a clean Fox Body. It’s funny – I almost forget Ford made this era of Mustang in traditional GT trim, as the SVO tends to hog the limelight when it comes to Mustangs made in 1986.

The interior is a treat, and helps to provide some additional evidence that the seller’s claims about originality and condition are accurate. There’s really nothing to critique in the cabin, as even the typically-saggy storage pockets on the door panes are in great shape. Grey cloth with red piping is a classic look for the early Fox Body GTs, and looks especially good on a red car with the dark gray beltline trim. The dash shows no cracks, and the factory radio remains in place.

The gauge cluster looks clean and clear, and the colors and cleanness of the plastic surfaces are typical for a car this fresh. The eBay pictures reveal that the exterior GT graphics are in similar condition, making it very likely it has been garage stored for much of its life. Pictures show an older gentleman in front of the car, presumably the longtime owner; hopefully, he was paid a fair price before the GT appeared here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $10K.

A clean, original, unmodified, unmolested low-mileage Four-Eye Fox Body. I agree, not often seen, though production figures were solid: the 1986 production total is the most recent “high.” And at a very fair price. I like it.

Compared to the rust bucket mustangs I normally see on here this looks a decent deal. This car was probably faster than the early k codes or 390 mustangs plus it has ac.

Seems like a bargain at 10 grand now. Ask yourself what can you buy new in a car for 10 grand ? Maybe a Mirage made by Mitsubisi. Looks like a good example if it does not need paint.

10 grand? nope MSRP: From $13,995 for Mirage. Weak 3 cylinder.
Prices have gone up considerably for “entry level” cars cause now they all have the blasted video screens, etc. in them STANDARD.

Cheapest is the not-as-ugly-up-front-as-the- earlier-ones 2020 Chevrolet Spark
      MSRP: From $13,220

BUT, no more small 2 doors – the yaris is no more a 2 door & now has a mazda motor, i believe.
MSRP: From $15,650 Exterior colors? 3!!! shades of grey!(yuck),white, black, & blue. $1100 more for mickey mouse automatic.
In 2007 you could get a 2 door(saw many of those) & a LOT more colors to choose from!

4 doors IMO increase the cost of a car too.
Amazing Dodge has NO cars starting under $23245!!!!

Imagine if you were car shopping in 1970 with ALLLL those choices & FAIR prices. & then you were JUST about to pick
a car(would be difficult for me) & then you were magically sent to – TODAY & saw what you had to choose from & COULDN’T get back to 1970!

In Madison, WI you can can a low end Mirage with a stick usually around 10K on sale. You also get a lifetime warranty. Exciting car? No, but reliable and affordable for a young person. Not everyone can afford a Hellcat.

Looks like 136k to me. Too much engine rust and corrosion for my tastes. I’m assuming the under carriage would be the same. Other than that, incredible condition!

A buddy of mine bought one new, that looked exactly like this one. Lots of good times in that car. He drove it for years until there was nothing left, pushing 300k miles, and had it crushed into a cube so he was the only owner. It was a great car.

Great car at a fair price, pretty decent performer for ten grand. Never thought the SVO’S ever overshadowed the 5.0 Mustangs, then or now.
