4-Speed 4×4: 1991 Dodge Power Ram 250 SE

This 1991 Dodge Power Ram 250 SE 4×4 isn’t all dusty and dirty and it wasn’t pulled out of a barn in non-running condition. It is, however, one of the nicest vintage, original 4×4 pickups that we’ve seen in a while and it would be perfect for hauling your next barn find home. The seller has this beauty listed here on eBay in Oakland, California and the current bid price is $8,100.

The 250 version is a 3/4-ton truck and although this one isn’t diesel-powered, it would still be more than I would ever need to haul any of my oddball vehicles to shows or to trailer a few more oddball vehicles back to secret storage units. The seller has downloaded around 200 photos which is amazing. This, my friends, is how to sell a vehicle online.

This is a regular eight-foot box or bed, so this truck has a 133-inch wheelbase. There was a 115-inch shortbed version with a 6.5-foot bed and also a longer Club Cab and even longer four-door Crew Cab, but I don’t think that fad will ever catch on with pickup owners. There’s no way that people will ever want to commute with pickups, especially ones that have four doors. Hey, wait a minute… You’ll see that this truck isn’t perfect with a few scrapes and scratches but overall, this is one nice-looking truck. The bed looks used but as clean as everything else is.

As expected, the interior looks fantastic and you can see a third pedal and a floor shifter. Yes, this one has a beefy New Process 235 4-speed manual transmission. He shoots he scores! Hemmings goes into this transmission in a story here. The seller has included several underside photos and it looks much better than anything that would be under a truck from the upper Midwest or Northeast after over three decades of life. They have also provided a short video here on YouTube of a quick walk around this truck.

The engine is as clean as everything else on this pickup is, it’s Dodge’s 360 cubic-inch V8 and this truck has just over 100,000 miles on it. This one fires right up and runs great without dripping any fluids or getting hot. This Dodge was originally from dry New Mexico, hence the great condition of the sheet metal. This looks like just a great all-around usable truck, somewhat vintage (older than a decent percentage of Barn Finds readers I would guess) and ready to go at a fraction of the price of a new truck. Any thoughts on this 4×4 Dodge?

Is this seller/dealer paying you guys to list every vehicle they sell?
You seem to show a LOT of them.

Out in the Chinook Belt a truck like this is about as rare as the winning Powerball ticket. Since Dodge started selling the Cummins engines that’s about the only way anything from a 3/4 ton and up went. The 360 was always a good performer. My Dad had a W300 with a 360 and an NP435 just like this one. Nothing wrong with either unit; they held up quite well. I did notice that ours had some trouble wearing out rocker arms and shafts. But that was more likely due to the similar metals they were made of. Overall the truck should treat the new owner quite well. The engine will likely be a lot cheaper to keep on the road. Some of the bills I saw on those Cummins engines were quite high but that went with the territory…

    Nice truck!
I don’t believe the standard cab short bed was available on the 250 series, just the 150.

I had a 93 that I purchased new, had to turn it in under the states lemon law for a front suspension problem the couldn’t figure out. Otherwise it was a nice truck

Not sure if they did in 1991 but I bought a new 1992 single cab 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive Dodge pickup. The only difference mine was Cummins powered. Great pickup!

He wasn’t talking about 3/4 ton trucks. 150’s only,

I wonder where the pictures are taken- because that’s certainly NOT Oakland California.

Nice truck and a good price.

Shouldn’t this truck have the ram hood ornament on it? Or were they no longer putting them on these trucks in 1991?
