58,000 Original Miles: 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

This 1984 Firebird Trans Am has been in the same family since new, and they describe the car as a time capsule. It certainly looks to be in good condition, and you have the opportunity to park it in your garage. You will find the Trans Am listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Valencia, Pennsylvania, and is offered for sale with a clear title. At the time of writing, bidding has reached $5,600, but the reserve has not been met.

The car certainly looks to be in the sort of condition that you would expect for a vehicle that has been well cared for. The paint and panels look good, and the alloy wheels don’t appear to exhibit any of the discoloration or pitting that can be a consequence of brake dust accumulation. The T-Top looks to be in good condition, and there are no indications that there has been any water leaking around the seals.

The interior is original, and overall, it is in very nice order. There is some very minor wear visible on the outer edge of the seat bolsters, but this is quite normal. In fact, it is actually so minor that it is barely worth mentioning, and is a lot lighter than on some cars that I’ve seen.

The Trans Am is fitted with the 5.0l “HO” engine and automatic transmission. Power steering is also a feature of the car. The engine bay looks really clean on the Trans Am. The owner is claiming that the car has covered a genuine 58,000 miles. They don’t mention whether they hold any documentation to confirm this, but the overall condition of the car certainly indicates that this is plausible.

This Trans Am is a nice looking car that appears to have been well cared for. While the mileage is low, it isn’t as low as I have seen on some examples. The fact that it appears to be completely original is a real positive for the car. It is possible to find high-mileage examples equipped the same as this car for around $7,000, but really good examples with low mileage will cost you twice that figure, sometimes even more. I don’t know what the reserve has been set at for this car, but whoever buys it will be getting a nice car.

I love 80’s Trans Ams but to me $7000 would be all the money. Nice car but not a stunner.

Love 3rd generation firebirds and camaros. Own 2 irocs and think they are great handling, fun cars with the tpi engines and a manual trans. Should bring 8 to 10 grand as 1984s are kinda rare.

My sister had a Formula of that vintage. A few months after she moved from Erie to Florida it cracked in half after she crossed railroad tracks.

No explanation as to why the a/c compressor is absent?
Good looking car, but the early 80s versions of Camaro and Fbird were pretty hohum.
