A Little Rusty: 1967 Chevelle SS396

1967 Chevelle SS396

Saying this ’67 Chevelle is in need of a lot of work might be an understatement! Rust has really taken over here. I can’t find any panels that don’t have at least a little rust. It also looks like someone started cutting the rust out, but never got any further than cutting a few panels out. That certainly doesn’t help this car at all, but the fact that it is an SS 396 4 speed car definitely does! The seller claims it has been parked in this barn since 1975 and that the frame rails and front end are in good shape. That’s all good and well, but the most important parts of this muscle car are missing, the big block V8 and the 4 speed transmission. If you just happen to have a 396 sitting around, this could be a sweet home for it! Find it here on eBay in Indianapolis, Indiana with a BIN of $8,500 and bidding at $2,500. So do you think this Chevelle is worth saving or would you rather find a less rusty example to build?

I think the $2500 starting bid is way to much. Not much left of it. You can buy a running driving one for not much more then the $8500 they want for this mess.

Car as been on ebay for some time now. It has 427 emblems on fenders, is it a true 427 car or has some one changed the emblems at one point in time?

I would like to own either car if it had less rust but they look too far gone.

It is at 3550 and reserve is not met. How much does the fool think it is worth? It will take at least 30k to get this thing restored.
He claims all the body panels except passengers side rear and trunk are solid. Has he looked at the pictures, every panel has at least one rust hole.

I am amazed at what some people with spend good money after bad on. Buying this is a waste of money. Then you’re looking at all the good (thousands of dollars later) money being thrown into it.

My dad told me my uncle had one. His was candy apple red and an SS 396 4 speed. My dad remembers the tall dashboard it had. My uncle sold it to his cousin, who then wrapped it around a telephone pole
