Abandoned Fiat Dealership In Denmark

d2

Wow! I’ve seen some closed dealerships in the US over the years, but the cars in most cases seem to quickly disappear. Reader David R. sent us an article dating from February 2015 here on Parabrisas showing a Fiat dealership in Denmark that closed in 1981. As you can see from the picture above, a lot of the cars were still there when the article was written. Apparently the stash originally consisted of over 200 cars, some of which were sold off in an auction a few years ago. However, many are said to remain. The dealership is in the Danish town of Kolding, in case any readers in Europe want to go visit. Let us know if you do!

    Hi!
Maybe they are selling some cars from out there?? I live in Denmark now, and I would love to check the place out if there is anything left!

I could pick a few — well, maybe three — out of there, and wish it were possible. The idea of a “new” Bianchina, Nuova 500 or 600 has a lot of charm for me. The front-engine Fiats? Not so much.

Of course the best of them would need a little mechanical work before you could use them, but if the prices were right — yes, I’m dreaming — I’d be happy to do some brake work and whatever else was needed.

It amazes me that finds like this still crop up on occasion. One can imagine, say, a warehouse filled with Big Healeys, MGBs, Sprites and Midgets. If it happened, I couldn’t afford to be a buyer anyway, but these showroom-fresh discoveries are great to read about.

I thought “MG 1100,” too, but seem to vaguely remember there was an Autobianchi or Innocenti version of same. Still, I’ll stick to the 600s, 500s and the Bianchina, even though if anyone has any sense (or is as crazy as I am), they were the first to go!

One picture – AUTO UNION – not DKW

Mark – While easy to confuse with the SP1000 that was sold as an Auto Union, the blue car in question is the DKW Junior, the replacement for the old rounded version of the DKW sedan. [I have a SP1000 with 40k miles]

From the Parabrisas article: “The company, owned by a man named Sorensen, was in the Danish town of Kolding…” My husband’s mother’s maiden name was Sorensen, and the few remaining family members lives about 50 miles from that town. They’re OURS! :-)

Tell me which car you want and I’ll put your name on it, LOL.

Sorry, Virgis–I picked the Mini first, to go with my MINI. You’re welcome to any of the Fiats, or the Beetles. Funny how tall the Bugs look compared to everything else, eh?

I’ll get back to you about how to go about picking them up. :-)

The dealer was called Fiat Sørensen. I live In Kolding where the dealer is lokalet. Some of the cars was brand new and still had plastic on the seats and 0 km. There were also some mini lorries which many people has forgotten that they had existed. Many of the used cars which was at the dealer had unbelievable a few kilometers. I have seen them all with my own eyes i think in 2009 or 2010 and I took some pictures of some of the most selden cars.
