Aged To Perfection: Wine Barrels Rod

Rear Slicks

This one may have already gotten away, but we wanted to give it a mention anyway. Just take a look at this thing! It was supposedly built back in seventies and debuted at the Canadian International Car Show. It was put into storage not long after that and was just recently pulled out. Some company over in Germany has since sold it for $13k here on eBay. It was built on a Model T chassis and features a Chevy V8. The seller didn’t even bother to get it running, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the new owner is already cruising their new acquisition around the block with a big smile on their face. There’s some nice touches like the beer-colored rear screen and the vintage wine barrels out back. I wasn’t able to find much information on the build, but it’s definitely worth a look!

    Man, that’s the stuff that I grew up with, model-wise. Cool! Not running / for-display-only, but for $13,500, the price of a couple of hundred bottles of good wine, some vineyard probably snapped it up (Captain Obvious here).

      Capt. O, I agree, reminds me kind of the Red Barron model.

    Thanks for the post. The local connection grabbed my interest as I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of the builder.

    Somehow Gerry Nimz escaped my knowledge despite being minutes away from me.

    Here’s another, I remember those booths well;

    A very reasonable price. Well known? Maybe in Canada. I don’t ever recall seeing that in an American Hot Rod magazine. The perfect advertising write-off for a winery, or even a brewery. After all, it already has beer goggles with the tint.

    I like the comment about the “sober” technical description. I’ll drink to that!

    I wonder what it would take to make it move under it’s own power.

    What a hit it would be at the Woodward Dream Cruise!
