All Original? 1967 Chevrolet C20 Pickup

This 1967 Chevrolet C20 Pickup is one of the cleanest that you are likely to find. There’s a lot to like about it, and the seller claims that it is all original. It is worth taking a look at this one in more detail to see how well this claim stacks up. I have to say a big thank you to Barn Finder MattR for spotting the C20 for us. It is located in Clackamas, Oregon, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. The BIN has been set at $17,999. The interest that the Pickup has generated is apparent when you realize that 171 people are watching the listing.

The C20 is finished in Medium Blue, and its presentation is extremely impressive. The beauty is more than skin deep here because the photos that the seller supplies of the underside show floors and a frame that wear little more than some mild surface corrosion in a few spots. The panels appear to be clean, with no evidence of any rust issues or prior accident damage. I believe that the C20 might have undergone at least a partial restoration in the past because I can see some evidence of what appears to be overspray in a couple of spots. The bed is spotlessly clean, and it looks like it has been treated with a spray-on bedliner. Looking beyond its flawless finish, I can’t see any evidence of the types of dings or dents that could indicate a history of hard use. The Chevy rolls on its original wheels, and these, along with the trim and glass, all look to be in excellent condition.

The interior of the C20 is just as tidy as the exterior, and there isn’t much to be critical of here. This doesn’t look like the interior of a 54-year-old Pickup to me, but more like one that has been recently restored. The painted surfaces are free from scratches and marks, while the upholstered surfaces, dash, pad, and carpet, all look perfect. The gauge cluster shows no signs of deterioration or lens “fogging” that can come with advancing years. There is a modern stereo fitted into the dash, and this is one of the points which makes me place a question mark over the seller’s “all original” claim.

Decoding the VIN on this classic reveals that it rolled off the line with a V8 under the hood, and this would have been either a 283 or 327. The VIN for the C20 doesn’t detail which it could be, and the owner doesn’t improve the situation by keeping that information to himself. This is where I have a further question regarding this classic’s originality. This V8 does not have the appearance of a 1967-vintage 283 or 327 to me, but if I am wrong on that point, I’m happy to be corrected. It is undoubtedly a small block, but I can’t say which with 100% certainty. Hooked to the back of this is an automatic transmission, and if the C20 is as original as the owner claims, it could either be a 2-speed Powerglide or 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic. Once again, the owner doesn’t indicate which, and there are no photos of the underside that give us a chance to make a visual identification. The vehicle has recently been fitted with a new dual exhaust, and the listing indicates a genuine 88,000 miles showing on the odometer. There is no mention of any evidence to back this claim, so once again, we are left in the dark. The seller also doesn’t enlighten us on how well this old Chevy runs or drives, but the news should be pretty good if appearances count for anything.

This 1967 Chevrolet C20 Pickup presents beautifully, but I have to question whether it is as original as the seller claims. My instincts tell me that this classic has undergone some form of refurbishment, and I have no issues with that concept. Only an in-person inspection would confirm this one way or another, and this is something that I always recommend for anyone who is considering handing over their hard-earned cash on a classic. However, if this one does check-out as okay, it could be a great one to park in your garage.

Everybody knew someones grandfather that painted everything “Royal Blue”. Garbage cans, tools, everything was blue. Too nice for an original and I can’t find that color on the ’67 truck color charts, most were metallic blues. These trucks were used, junked, and replaced. It’s amazing to see one like this again.

Restored to original, definitely not original. Impossibly clean under the hood for a pickup with 88k miles. Steering wheel should be blue but you can’t can’t deny this pickup is now in outstanding condition. Considering the like-new condition, I’d say the price is fair, especially when you consider the price of a new pickup today. My only gripe is the spray-on bedliner; I never cared for that particular treatment and would rather have installed an ABS liner. This Chevy is a beauty that seems to need nothing and one I’d definitely like to put in my garage.

1967 should have different valve covers, an oil fill on the manifold and a different air cleaner. The wheels would have been split rim, these are later model.

But, it definitely is a clean truck and was restored mostly to original. Not 100%, but close enough.

I agree, it looks like “any old” 350 to me. However, the exhaust manifolds look rather vintage.

In the 80s, split rims were banned for road use, and if your truck had them still, the manufacturer gave you 5 new rims & 5 new tires. Reason for recalls was that you could easily kill yourself installing a new tire on them.

I’m no Bow Tie kind of guy, but the fuel hose running up from the fuel pump and that clear plastic filter don’t seem to be original. Didn’t they have a steel line with a metal filter, or a filter inside the carburetor where the line attached?

Write up says “Clean Carfax”. That’s funny.

Considering the number of C20 pick-ups sold back in the day, there are a scant few still on the road (especially this nice). Most were beat to hell and then went to the scrapyard. Someone is going to end up with a very nice collectible truck!

Wow! That’s a beauty…..from back when pickup trucks were cool, not ridiculous.

Definately been resprayed as there’s paint on the firewall wire gutters. At what the little I can see of the shifter quadrant it has a 3spd auto. Also the door mirrors seem to be for the later models (’69up…?), I may think these should be correct for the ’67:

Enough nit-picking, this is a very nice truck!

Alternator mounting to the intake and not the head tells me this is an early and probably original engine.

All I can say is wow. Everything about this is gorgeous. Sure some details may not be perfect, but if you compare this to some of the abominations that are sold as trucks today, this rules.

I had a 1970, same color and body style plus white wagon wheels, in ’77 when I started installing cable TV. Looked sharp as hell, with a ladder rack made from scaffolding jacks and cross arms. I had a three on the tree and I loved that truck. Gave me great service, but I ended up trading it in on a new Toyota SR5 in ’78.

Weather the wheels were split rim or not depended on the GVW. If I remember correctly, under 8800 they had 16.5 in. rims which were not split rims, over 8800 had 16 in. wheels that were split rims. This is a beautiful truck even if it’s not all original.

No expert on these old trucks, but my 63 289 has the oil filler in the front of the manifold as well is that a plastic shroud in front on the “newer” rad?
Exhaust manifolds are correct but where’s the heat riser covers & tube?

For what it’s worth, the C20 is a 3/4 ton, and this one has a long bed. If it was a C10 (half ton) “shorty”, the price might be worth it.

I wouldn’t kick this out of my garage for eating crackers. Really like these models, don’t care if original engine paint or any other complaints I’d take this over any new truck in the same price range. Just don’t need or want a truck at this time in my old age.
    God bless America

Bring magnet when going to check this from a seller with the worst feedback score I’ve seen.

Well it is a 3/4 ton long bed for sure. When I got mine back in the day it was a 327CI as I did not like the power glide 2-speed Trans. So if it has turbo-hydramatic it is a 327 as that is how they were matched then. This is a great appearing truck. But I have serious ISSUES when a vehicle is listed all original and all these issues we can see pop up. I think he is definitely hiding issues and truths on it. Not enough pic’s for it, none of underneath which could be really hid BAD RUST Issues. Most people that has a bed with badly scratches and pin holes has these spray on bed liners to hide it and make it look great. It has been repainted – Look under hood really close, the OIL inlet wrong place, wrong air cleaner, wrong Alternator placement, added on dual exhaust system, wrong Radiator air scoop. wheels, wheel size, & type(???) “NO PROOF OF NOTHING AVAILABLE”, SUMMARY: This guy is trying to put something over on someone based on it looking good externally-maybe a 20 footer. It definitely is not worth the price asking for it.

This truck is not what it seems to be. Yes, it looks good and has a good “story”, however, the front crossmember, front suspension, and underside tell a different story. I would also be curious to see what the inside of the bed looked like before the bed liner was applied.

Sorry to say, that’s not as ’67 intake.Heads and exhaust ram horn manifolds seem to be correct vintage.(pre accessory bolt hole heads/log style manifolds) This is an absolutely beautiful truck. My ’65 C20 would be jealous with this on near it.

I just purchased this truck and it is on its way to the east coast. Looks like a frame on restoration was performed relatively recently. Not all that concerned with is originality, will follow up after I have had the truck for a while.

The truck is as clean as it looks. She is not perfect but lots of fun. 1970 350 with a 700r4 trans. Runs like a top, I have put 2000 miles on it and have had no issues. I have a few projects planned for it this winter.
