The seller of this 1969 Chevrolet C-10 Stepside shortbed says that it’s a 3-owner barn find and it sure has the look that’s hot now. It can be found here on eBay with bids reaching over $5,000 so far and there is no reserve. It’s located in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee and the seller says that they wouldn’t be afraid to jump in this truck and drive it across the country.
The second-generation C-Series pickups had added features to make them comfortable and not just pragmatic work trucks. The seller says that they’re the third owner of this all-original barn find pickup. They bought it two years ago from the second owner and that previous owner pulled it out of a barn and the bed was filled with rotten bales of hay, hence the rust in the bed of the truck.
Sadly, there are no photos showing the bed floor but they say that it was wood and it rotted out. Replacement kits are available, of course, so hopefully that isn’t a big issue for the next owner. It also has rust in the rockers and they say the exterior has rust, too. I’m not sure what that is other than surface rust? I prefer the look of the stepside box on the second-gen Chevy trucks as this one has. The next “square” generation trucks, I prefer the fleetside box. What about you?
The interior looks great and a lot of it is new, including the seat cover, carpet, and dash pad. The previous owner only put 150 miles on the truck and the seller put a little over 2,000 miles on it and they say that they wouldn’t be afraid to drive across the country with it, everything works as it should and it has new brake drums all around and everything is there for the AC but it isn’t blowing cold.
The 250 cubic-inch straight-six engine works great and it doesn’t leak a drop of anything. They have replaced the flywheel, clutch, throwout bearing, and the shift bushing linkage for the 3-on-the-tree manual shifter so it’s all nice and tight. Hagerty is at $6,200 for a #4 fair condition example, I wonder what this sorted driver C-10 will sell for – $7,500? More?
Surprised to see AC in a bare bones 6 cyl. three on the tree truck. I’d get that working, and drive it as is.

I hope that wasn’t a busy road this person decided for a photo shoot, nice truck, although, that A/C will probably have to be turned off to climb that hill, being an aftermarket add-on, they probably found that out. Good old truck, priced more in line, these are hard find. I don’t see near as many of these by me as the square body’s like mine.
There were quite a few trucks very similar to this one (’67-’70) in my home town. I’d say that they were split between six and V8. I wouldn’t turn a truck like this down. I’d use it as a driver and eventually fix it right up, including a nice single stage paint job, done in front of my shop. Not too fussy about the A-C. Those aftermarket systems left a lot to be desired. I’d probably take it out and patch the holes in the firewall.
I’ve got two 69 short bed step sides. They are just great trucks. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people offer to but one while getting gas.
I just bought a1965 C10 truck a couple moths ago. This truck was sitting in the Texas sun since at least 1987. This truck has a lot of options big back window factory AC and V8 three on the tree. It’s going to be a big project I’m looking forward to it. I’m amazed how much money they go for.
