Amazing Survivor: 1965 Corvette

1965 Corvette Survivor

The seller of this Corvette coupe claims it is all original, from the paint all the way to the carpets. It’s in really great condition, but having 66k miles it seems too good to be true. It isn’t perfect, but if it is all original, it has been extremely well cared for ever since new! The seller calls it a barn find, but doesn’t offer any history or much more information beyond what I’ve already stated here. I would love to hear more from them about it’s history. Whether or not it’s original, it’s a beautiful classic and would be fun to have. If you’d like to have it parked in your garage, you can find it here on eBay in Manahawkin, New Jersey with a BIN of $65k.

1965 Corvette Interior

Looking at the interior, I see just enough wear to make me believe the mileage claim. Things aren’t excessively worn, but just rough enough to prove it wasn’t recently restored. Going off the interior alone, I’d tend to believe the originality claims.

The paint on the other hand looks way to nice. Remember, this car is 51 years old and a lot can happen to paint in 5 decades. Of course, it is white, so blemishes and cracks wouldn’t show well in photos. This is one I’d have to see in person to know for sure if it is original or not, but I want to believe it is! It sure would be incredible if turns out to be factory original inside and out, minus consumables of course. What do you think, does it look original or would you say it’s an older restoration?

The original owner must have been a real hoot, “Hey Gang let’s NOT take the car out for a spin!”

I would say it looks original. Rare and excellent find. I would feel better if the price was 50K. But then again where else are you going to find one? It’s worth it for sure.

Agree it looks like a really well taken care of car, and if it’s truly original then somebody did a great job of not driving it much, but…..

It’s another of those Ebay listings with no VIN, no documentation, not even any information about the engine or special options in addition to the usual PS and PB.

And was rear ventilation an actual option…and special? Calling the experts.

No wish here to dispute with MH, but it might be possible to find one of these for the same or less money since the SCM Guide has the median recent auction price paid for base ’65 coupes at $59K, or $6K under the price of this car. And I think many of those sold cars would probably be as nice as this one, and might even have the 4-speed, and some documentation about history and originality, which I gather is important to vintage Corvette buyers.

Then there is the question why anyone would claim this was a barn find, and with no pics—-other than…you know…

Dolphin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, “Rear ventilation” was standard equipment on all 1965 Corvette coupes, Nice car and the price is kind of high but there is an ass for every seat. I’d like to own it but not at this price, automatic or not. Interior looks almost too nice to be original no matter if Felix Ungar or Oscar Madison owned it.

Must be the reason it’s called a slushbox

This whole look is excellent for me. It’s like the plain Jane C2….Too bad about the automatic.
It’s hard to tell in pics and in white, but all of the C2 s had the fiberglass bonding strips show on the fender ” bumps” with shrinkage by now no matter how it was stored. The same for the upper front panel with the lights in it. I call B S on the paint at least.
    It is pretty.

Need to verify miles with actual service records history and receipts. Not just interior condition. I’ve seen interiors ratted out with 5K miles and looking like new with over 100K. Depends on the owner’s habits and care not mileage. Without actual service records history and receipts I’d never buy a Vette at the $20K or higher level, certainly not for $60K unless feeling stupid silly. Without any records??–this really tells you something about the quality of the car and owner. At least in my experience I’ve heard every story–records lost, in a box somewhere, in the mail, ex has them, dog ate them—-but really means there are no records or no transparency or the owner never cared much about the car.

If you’re going to sell an early vintage classic Corvette and base your price partially on low original miles, you better have some documentation to prove it.

I don’t think the plating on the window cranks would have held up that well. My gut feeling is the interior has had some work. Looks nice though. Since the motor has been re painted, what else?

If it is indeed a “barn find”, I’d be really interested in the barn that it was in.
It looks like it came out of a very nice barn :).

Not everybody bought a new car and made out a piece of paper to show they went to get a hamburger or a pack of smokes down the road a mile. Maybe some people would be happy if they just made up some time and dates, stuffed them in the glove box or in the trunk. A lot more important paper work is false then just on cars.

I have a friend with a really beautiful well maintained ’65 Vette – 4 speed, 365 HP, vintage air and two tops and he can’t get $65K for his – best offer to date was $58K – so no way do I see $65K in this one – in my mind it’s a $45-50K car at best.

Would love to own this little gem but not at that price. Can anyone tell what that engine is by the pic? Odd they don’t state the VIN or the engine spec. Why would you withhold that info if trying to get top $$$??? So many things just don’t add up.
