Another Bargain C3 Corvette!

a3

Yes, I know it’s not an original color, and yes, there’s some work that needs to be done. But a running and driving 1980 Corvette, in a color I happen to like, that’s relatively close to me with an opening bid of $3,500 with no reserve? That’s tempting. Good for me it’s an automatic–or maybe bad for me? Regardless, it’s located in Richmond, Virginia and is listed for sale here on eBay.

Unless the car was jacked up by it’s differential just before these shots, there’s something going on in the rear suspension. Also, the seller tells us that not only do they know nothing about Corvettes, they’ve been unable to get the driver’s side door closed the way it should be. The mismatched tires and missing wheel centers also lend me to think there will be things to fix under the pretty orange skin.

I still like it, though, and the 1980 lines are some of the best to me. The paint looks pretty decent as well. I’ve got to believe the body alignment issues can’t be unsolvable; after all, what car has more parts support than a C3 Corvette?

a4

The seller is stating that it only has 58,000 miles. I’m not sure if that’s 58,000 or 158,000, but the interior certainly looks like what’s in there can be cleaned up and used. You will need a steering wheel center and some elbow grease, though. The seller does tell us that the gauges don’t work; I’m wondering if this is a period LED conversion kit as it all looks black in the pictures.

The seller tells us that this is the original engine, although I’m not sure it matters at this point. It looks like the air conditioning has been removed, or at least the compressor, and since it hasn’t been on the road in over ten years, I’m sure it will need working through the inevitable issues that happen when a car has been off the road for a long time. However, if the price stays down near where it is now, it’s awfully tempting! What do you think?

IDK, this is nice, but I think I’m still going to go with the rust bucket for $8g’s,,,,, I know, just trying to toot my own horn here. See, perfect example of what’s happening to the hobby. Family member dies, what do we do with dad’s (or mom’s) Corvette? To be honest, I don’t think the door problem is related to the wheel well thing, it could just be sitting in a hole or something. The other shots show it sitting pretty square. Door latches are a high wear item. Don’t really care for Corvettes, but I love the color. Be a nice car for someone. Clearly they know nothing about it. Hope someone doesn’t take advantage of them.

meh – looks like the owner slid into a ditch or hit curb and messed up the IRS – not a cheap fix. Never a good sign when the body is hitched up on one side and the door won’t close…Not a bad price if you have a parts car to make one or the other complete.

I am thinking the color could be one that was used on the C6 models (2005-2013), either Daytona Sunset Metallic or Atomic Orange.

That car is jacked. Every gap on that car is wacked so this car has been in a wreck at some point. Stay away from this car

Appears to be really crooked to me too. Would be interesting to get an in-person look at it, and do some measuring. Fixing the body fiberglass does not mean the car was properly repaired?

Love the color but it seems to have a lot of oddball issues.

$2500 tops. It is a shame what some of the C3 Corvettes have turned into.
