Auction Finds: 1954 Austin Healey 100 + Berkeley SE328

A fairly obscure listing for what looks like a farm auction in Delaware, Ohio has a few project-grade sports cars that could go cheaply if the current bidding action holds up. The listing includes what looks like a restoration-worth 1954 Austin Healey 100, listed here on the Auction Ohio website. No details are offered, but with its major panels still intact, complete wheel set, and windshield frame all still visible in photos, it seems like a better car than its $310 current bid would suggest. You can find the whole listing here on the AuctionOhio main page, and some of the other interesting specimens below.

This is probably the second-most interesting car in the collection, which is a mixture of vehicles, trailers, and discarded farm equipment. The Berkley looks near identical to the SE328 that Josh and Jesse recently scooped up as a new project. The listings on the auction site provide very little information, but from the pictures, we can see what looks like a fairly complete car, sans top. The body panels look decent, and the wheels appear to be factory correct. I have to imagine most of these obscure roadsters have lost their headlight covers by now – there’s one still hanging on here. Check out the listing for the Berkeley here.

The other Austin Healey in the collection is a total parts car with no hope of returning to the road, clearly the victim of a significant accident or a cutting torch. The engine and transmission sitting on a pallet suggests the previous owner knew there were still some good bits worth saving despite the maladies it suffered and may indicate that the red car needed some help in the drivetrain department. Either way, with bidding at $82.00, it’s hard to go wrong with a spare engine and transmission for such short money. You may even get a body panel or two, and the photo gallery shows two good bucket seats. Here’s the listing for the parts car Healey.

The rest of the listing is fairly ho-hum stuff, but there is this cool manual transmission 1986 Chevy panel truck. You can almost see the plans here with all the trailers included in the listing. Perhaps a goal of going racing, with the panel van pulling the better Healey, fully dressed in racing livery? The Berkeley could be the perfect pit car, too, with its small proportions perfect for bringing drivers back and forth from the staging lot to trackside. OK – I’m probably dreaming a bit too big for this mildly sad lot of Austin Healey projects, but a guy can dream, right? What would you rescue and how would you use it?

The Healy is up to almost 5k, the parts car at an even thousand, and the Berkeley is at a little over 2k now.

Love another Berkeley..had two T60 three wheelers…same car as this with the rear tapering back to one wheel. What a lovely design and boy do they corner with that front wheel drive! I really hope someone saves this and enjoys it. They should definitely join the Berkeley Enthusiasts Club out of the UK..great source of info and parts ( including that missing headlight glass)

I would expect that panel truck to go up in price a bit? The scrap metal value, and the Dewalt Job Box are worth far more than the current bid.
