BF Exclusive: 1964 Ford Galaxie + Trailer

Reader Larry F is helping a friend find a new home for this ’64 Ford and the trailer it’s on. It might be a big 4 door, but it has a 390 under the hood and is being offered for just $3,000, which includes the trailer! That seems like a lot of metal for the money and as long as the trailer is in solid enough shape, you could even drive to Battle Creek, Michigan and tow it home yourself. If you’d like to take a look or make an offer, be sure to email Larry here.

Larry didn’t give us much to go off of, but here is what he did have to say about it. From Larry – Hey…about all I know is it been stored for years till that ” someday ” he could restore it. Now, divorce make him sell it. It has a 390 auto but not sure about condition. Probably have to be reworked. Was thinking $3,000 for both or $1,500 apiece.

I see some rust issues that have me concerned, but hopefully the tin worm hasn’t made it’s way to any structural components. As long as the frame is solid, I could live with a few rough spots on the exterior, I’d use it as a driver anyways.

The other big question for me is the condition of the engine. The 390 was offered in several trim levels, but I’m going to guess this one got the standard 300 horsepower version. That should be plenty of engine for it, that is if it can be made to run again. Hopefully Larry can try turning it over by hand to let us know if it’s stuck or not. Like he says, it will probably need to be rebuilt, but it would be good to have an idea of what your getting into right at the start. You can see more photos of this Ford here.

For the money, I think this could be a decent buy if you’ve been hunting for a cheap big block Ford project or if you need a parts car. The trailer is a nice bonus, but I would want to look it over to make sure it is safe to go any distance with this massive 4 door loaded up. Special thanks to Larry for listing with us and I hope we can find a good home for this package deal! If you have a find you’d like to list with us, be sure to read more about it here.

That four door hardtop was a rare, upscale body style in ’64. Someone should try to rescue this one.

I think the 4 door hardtop was one of the classiest body styles ever engineered. You got the open air feel of the 2 door plus kids and friends didn’t have to be contortionist to get in the back seat. The 1964 big Fords were good looking in any body type ( imho ). At first glance I thought this car was too rough to bother with, but as I looked closer it appears most of the trim is inside, the interior looks pretty good, and I don’t see much rust in the lower parts that are visible in the pictures. Of course I would want a close up and personal inspection before any money changed hands. The trailer would be a bonus it it solid, I wouldn’t move it without changing at least the tires though.

I have always preferred Galaxies over Impalas. I love the lines and I don’t want to see myself coming and going. Different is good.

That will be a sweet cruiser when it’s finished.

We had one of these with the 289 as a family car when I was a kid. It was the most comfortable thing to ride in, and even with the 289 it still got along well. I’ve never forgiven my dad for selling it!

Yaa I’m with Dan too many doors. 3K is way too much for it,and it needs alot of work. The money that its gonna cost to fix this thing up,honestly you would never get it back if you ever wanted to sell it .Sorry but the 2 extra doors is a deal breaker.

Buy it, get it rolling and then ship it to Australia. You’d soon turn a profit!

This is a great looking four door. Hard top makes all the difference.

I say worth rescuing. Those big early 60s fords had a nice style to them in both 2 and 4 door form. Coupes are overrated imho.
