Reader Casey H has been having some health issues and just can’t work on this short bed F-100 anymore. Rather than see it go to waste in his Albuquerque, New Mexico driveway, he’s decided to list it here on Barn Finds, so that one of you guys can snag it! It’s going to need a lot of work, but looks like a great project to undertake. He’s got some spares that go with it, including the parts needed to do a disc brake conversion! He’s asking $2,500 for it, but told me he’s willing to hear offers, so be sure to email him here and make an offer.
Like I said earlier, it has some issues, but he’s upfront about the problems. I’ll let him tell you more about his truck. From Casey – This is a fairly clean 1970 Ford F-100 short wide bed project truck minus the motor. The Truck originally had a 240 Six and a 4 speed.
The transmission goes with truck. It’s mileage is not sure, estimated to be 122,989.2 as previous odometer reading was 22,989.2.
This truck does have the typical small rust holes this year Ford normally get, floor board seam and bottom of front fenders. The bed is in excellent condition and appears the truck was only used as a grocery-getter as there are zero dents or dings in the bed inside.
The body is complete and comes with all parts, front clip is currently off and disassembled. Truck comes with a set of 1979 F-100 Front Beams Complete for Disc Brake Bolt In Conversion, all parts present. This truck has a clear title.
Besides needing to be put back together your going to have to find a motor for this rig, but there are a lot of options for it. You could find another inline six or you could upgrade it with a V8! Just about any engine will fit in it. I would probably go with something like a 302, but only after doing the disc brake conversion and upgrading the suspension. What engine would you put in it?

Saw the same thing Jeff saw twice over the last couple of days — am also having conflict issues when looking at your site in Firefox — it continually locks up with an indicated plug-in issue with Adobe Flash Player when redirecting from Facebook (no issue when using Chrome). Feel free to erase after reading — wasn’t quite sure if anyone else was having issues.
I did a 66 F100 with an early 90s Mustang 5.0 FI with an AOD — it was a dynamite combo. Added PS, tilt wheel, front power disc brakes, later model wheels, etc. — all from junk yard parts. Almost anything up to a 79 will be a bolt-in retrofit. Body looks a little rough for $2500 but minimal rust (we hope) is a positive. Easy update to a driver quality truck — no so easy if you’re going for show quality.
What does the interior look like? Can it be driven home?
Honestly, I’m very surprised anyone would consider the Body as “Rough” as it is almost smooth as glass. The Tailgate is Pristine and closes with a simple pull of the handle, no slamming. The Bed Seams that normally have rust in, is surface and the Drivers side original caulk was already wire wheeled out and redone, beautiful results. The blown tire damage on the Drivers side bed Wheel Well was repaired Metal Finish in most areas, just needed massaging with the back area quality 3M filler the thickness of a credit Card in a very small area, No “Bondo”, have photos upon request.
Good deal for someone. New Mexico vehicles shouldn’t have much rust and the engine compartment is large enough to fit anything you want into it.
This truck is now a runner with a new built big block from the same model truck with headers, cam, Dynomax Mufflers. Runs great, sounds even better. It still needs new owners massaging to make it their own. Engine, Transmission, and Accessories are New. I have it listed fairly high but will take a reasonable offer. Seat still needs recovered as well as Floor halves and Carpet like many of these do.
