BF EXCLUSIVE: 1977 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

I say with some level of confidence that all of us have at least one fond memory attached to a Chevy C10 pickup. They were tireless workhorses, simple but effective machines. On a personal note, my brother owned at least one if not two and they were always faithful companions. Barn Finds reader Paul Arnold has chosen to list his 1977 model with us as Barn Finds exclusive, and hopes to find a new home for this unrestored C10.

The C10 is clearly utilitarian, without the splashy two-tone paint job so many of these trucks came with. The bed cap and ladder racks suggest it has been someone’s work truck for many years, though it doesn’t show too many scars of life in the field. Paul is asking $3,000 for the truck and it’s located in Argyle, New York.

Paul notes the following: 350 V8, 4 barrel Carburetor, 4 speed floor shifter. Power steering, but no power brakes. Fleetside bed w/cap, 8 foot. AM radio/heater. Has points/condensor. The 350 is as reliable as it gets and will provide many years of affordable service with plenty of spares still available. Or, is it an engine swap candidate for a sleeper build?

That’s how I look at trucks like these: keep the plain-vanilla wrapper intact on the outside but stuff a LS motor inside with a beefier transmission and upgraded suspension. The possibilities are endless with a clean slate like this C10, but it will also make for a pleasingly simple farm truck or errand runner when you don’t want to get your daily driver dirty. We want to thank Paul for listing his Chevy C10 pickup with us, and you’ll find his contact info below.

What, nobody on the old Chevy? For shame, these, like the other brands, were just the best trucks, EVER! I think Chevy was the nicest, not because of the mechanical’s, they all had good mechanical’s, but Chevy ( and GMC) was a bit more civilized and comfy, while Ford and Dodge were still a bit rough around the edges. I’m waiting for one like this around me, then I’m grabbing it. Great price for this, can’t go wrong here.

Odd that a ’77 would be running points and a condenser!

Correct. Should be HEI 1975 up. Something isn’t right here.

This four speed transmission has the super low “granny gear”. This combo is great for pulling. If you can get traction there’s not much this one can’t pull.

$3k??? I see these all the time near me for under $2k which I think is a bit much.

I love it! An honest ol’ pickup truck, just what you’d see tooling around everywhere back in the day.

Slightly rusty, with a GMC tailgate, this is as real as it gets. An ultimate “no worries” rig, you wouldn’t think twice about actually using it to help someone move or go out on a hunting or fishing excursion.

newspapers, this truck can do it all!
